    Hi Ladies,

Thomas and Faith will be 2 months on Friday. I'm not sure if it is too early to start getting them on a schedule but I would like to try. If you could please tell me how your schedule goes so I can get some kind of Idea as to what I should expect at this age. Please include naps, bedtime, eating, "playing", bathing.

Also how do you keeps them entertained during the day so they will sleep more at night rather than during the day. I keep them out in the living room all day either laying on the bobby's or in the bouncy seats and they only go in their crib at night. It seems that when I do put them in the crib they instantly wake up and want to come back out and then they refuse to go back to sleep. Should I be putting them in the crib during the day more so they get more used to it? If they cry what do I do they will be full and have a clean diaper on yet they will still cry. I think they are just crying to get out because as soon as I pick them up they instantly stop crying. I know its to early to CIO but I dont know what else to do. If I keep picking them up isn't that going to continue a habit of if they cry they get to come back out. Please help I have no idea what I'm doing and would appreciate any advice you have.

    Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem, and can't wait to see what other write. I am not putting them in the crib at all during the day (it worked for my son who is 3) but doesn't seem to be working this time. Hopefully someone will have some good advice.

My boys are two months old today, and we've been working on a loose schedule the last few weeks. Seems to be working pretty well, so here it is:

wake up 6am: eat, fuss a little, try to take a nap
8:30-10:00: change diapers, eat, play on the floor
    10:30: eat
    11:00-1:00: nap
    1:00-3:00: eat, stroller ride
    3:30: eat
    4:00: nap

the evening doesn't really have a schedule, just lots of bf, a bath and then to sleep around 9:30pm (and they sleep until 6:00am).

I've found that they actually sleep better when they take good naps during the day. I have to swaddle them and give pacis to get them to take naps, but once I do, they sleep well. Also, I do put them in their crib to nap because I wanted them to start associating the crib with sleeping. Sometimes they DO need to cry for a few minutes before falling asleep. I don't consider this CIO, since it's usually only a few minutes. Hope this is helpful!

When my twins were 2 months, they were on a schedule. I worked from the day they were born to get them on a schedule to make life easier! It went something like this: They ate every 3 hours, I think about 4oz at a time. I nursed one and gave one a bottle and switched them the next time. They started their morning about 7am. From there it was every 3 hours. After they eat, keep them awake, playing with them. They may not stay awake very long. Mine stayed awake about 45 minutes to 1 hour at that age I think. Then put them down for a nap in their cribs. Sometimes I used a swing, bouncy seat, whatever I could get them to sleep in. But crib is best and in their bedroom is best. Put them down drowsy. Yes, there is some crying involved, but they do learn to go to sleep. Look at the clock, sometimes it seems like they're crying more than they do.

I was big on the eat/play/sleep routine to get them to regulate their metabolisms and start sleeping better at night. DS was sleeping from 7:30 to 7am from 2 months (with a dream feed at 10pm) and DD was sleeping the same except she would also wake up at 4am for a few more weeks. I let her CIO at 3 1/2 months and then they were both sleeping through. They are still taking 3 naps a day with an occasional 4th catnap. It is a struggle to get them to stay awake longer than 2 or 2 1/2 hours at a time. So I don't know how those that do 2 naps do it!!

For a while I did have them separated for their naps because DS didn't sleep as long, but the last few days, I've put them back together and they're doing fine.

I personally have been putting the babies in their cribs to nap since around 7/8 weeks old (they're 12 weeks tomorrow). They were too big for their bassinets so we decided to place them in their cribs. It was challenging and continues to be a challenge. Sometimes they end up sleeping on our bed, my lap, or their bouncy chair. It happens some of the time. In terms of a schedule, we really don't have one. At the present time, I don't have them stay awake any longer than two hours from their previous wake time. That being said, our ds lasts about 45 minutes and our dd usually lasts longer than that. As a result, they nap at different times and usually wake at different times. It's more of a routine than a schedule. I also nurse exclusively. So when they wake, I nurse them, then play, and sometimes nurse them again before taking a nap. Our ds doesn't really need to be rocked much. I swaddle him, hold him, offer him the paci (sometimes he takes it), then put him down. Our dd likes to be nursed before taking her nap. I try to put her down drowsy but awake. HTH!!

My boys get up 7:30-8 am and I feed them then.
    Nap at 8:30-9
    Feed at noon
    Nap at 12:30-1
    Feed at 4
    Nap at 5-5:30
    Feed at 8
Bedtime at 8:30-9 the very latest!

They are basically up 1 to 1.5 hours after waking up and eating. One will start to cry and I put him down on his belly and he sucks his thumb and is simple. The other twin, I watch for signs of being tired and then lay him down when drowsy in the crib. Nap time I do them separately but at night time they sleep in the same crib.

Oh, I forgot to add. They both wake around 7am in the morning. Bedtime routine usually starts between 6-7 and both are usually sleeping by 730. Our ds doesn't usually last that long and is sleeping before 7pm.
