I am so frustrated with this! I feel like I've tried every sippy cup under the sun & there's always something about each one I don't like. Maybe I'm being too picky & the "perfect cup" just doesn't exist! <_<

    So far I've tried:

Nuby cup with straw - don't like the little straw attached inside b/c I can't put it in the dishwasher & I'm already losing them. Also, the lid never goes on easy & if I'm not careful it will leak.

Various Playtex cups, including the kind with the soft spout. That one's not bad, actually.

Avent trainer cups these I don't have any problems with, except they seem a little bit too much like the bottles & we're trying to get away from those.

First Years cups I love how these don't have valves, but my babies just aren't big enough yet & can't get anything out of them.

Nuby cups I loved these at first, but then I don't know what happened & if I don't have the nipple part on JUST right it leaks really bad.

My cupboards are overflowing with cups & parts & just driving me nuts. Someone mentioned a Gerber cup with a soft straw, but I can't find it anywhere. :help:

We use the nuby straw cups you linked as well as the insulated version. I put all the parts in the dishwasher and have not had any problems with leaking. That said, I don't think there is a perfect cup. I think they all have some negative. Personally I think it's a conspiracy, they just want us to keep buying every sippy cup ever made.

Trish is right, it's a conspiracy. There is no perfect cup. I haven't seen the Gerber ones.

Relax...you are not alone. We've all been victim of the sippy conspiracy. And you know what else. Of the ones that you have that they don't use....give it 6 months, they'll decide they like those and don't like the ones they use now so much. After the caboodles of money I spent on sippies, this is what the girls decided on:

There are 2 in that package. It's small in volume and in roundness. Very easy for them to grip and use. We also used the disposable First Years ones because that is what they use at the girls' school. The kids like them. I was around all of their classmates for a long time in the mornings at breakfast and saw that most of them didn't get it for a little bit and we'd have to hold the cup up for them, but it didn't take long before they'd drink a bit here and there. Now, the kids guzzle down whatever they're given from those sippies. Just don't expect that yours will do that at all. If they are thirsty, they'll "sip" here and there. As they get older and grow up, they'll begin to favor drinking from them more and more simply because they can. It's independant for them to be able to do that by themselves. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, just keep trying.

We have these Gerber Cups and these Playtex Cups that I actually like. We have a bunch of the Nuby cups, but I find that they are the worst for leaking.

We too have a cupboard full of cups (Avent, Nuby, Playtex) but they decided on the Gerber ones with the handles (I think they are the Graduates brand, >7months). I like it cause it's bent and my girls aren't really good at holding their heads back to drink yet so it helps. They are like 4 bucks each. Berkley just chugs out of it and cries when it's empty...Emerson is doing well with it too. Good luck!

We use mostly Gerber cups. Just the basic ones that have the white removable valve. The only drawback is if they throw it hard enough, which does happen every few days, the valve comes out and leaks. We have some that are insulated and work great at keeping things cool.

I actually went to Walgreen's yesterday and picked up a couple of sets of their brand. They were 2 cups for $3 and my friend Sherry swears by them. So I hope they work and for $3 if they don't oh well I'll be back to the drawing board.

We use the Gerber Transitions cups. They have a soft spout, and a inside valve. I just take them apart and put them in the dishwasher. I haven't had any issues with these cups. No leaks, and my kiddos love them.

Gerber transitions Sippy Cups THey come with and without handles. The lids are very easy to take off and on. They are triangular shaped, so they are east to hold with or with out the handles. HTH

Well, I have tried 2 different avent ones some cheapy one and just recently a friend of ours bought them the First Years disposable ones that come in bright colors. They are the first clear ones we've gotten and my girls have really taken to them. They are dishwasher safe so although they are disposable, you can use them over and over. The reason I think they are taking to them better is because 1. they have a large spout for them to wrap their mouth around. I think you said they use the Avent bottles (as do ours) and well, compared to a lot of other bottles, the Avent nipples are rather large. 2. Also, the flow doesn't come out too fast compared to the other ones I've tried so it's not so overwhelming when they take a sip. 3. they seem to really enjoy seeing the liquid inside. I guess it makes the experience more interesting.

If I could just find The Wiggles sippy cups I think we would hit a homerun with the whole sippy cup dilemma! ;) GL

So glad you posted this topic. I am also looking to graduate from our current sippies.

We tried a variety of sippy cups to get the boys to drink from them and what worked best for us were the little take-n-toss 5-oz trainer cups. These were great to teach them to tip b/c they are small and easy to tip. Also, they have grooved sides that are easy to hold. The downside is that the boys LAUNCH them from the high chair constantly. You always have to check to make sure the lid hasn't loosened from the launch before giving it back b/c if it has on the next launch it's time to get out the mop. Also, since they are disposable, they don't last forever and I have had to throw out about 3 or 4 b/c if they launch it hard enough it can crack.

Right now my boys' favorite is a Nalgene version of a sippy. They absolutely love this, but we only have one. I was considering going out and buying a couple more, but it is a valved sippy and I heard that the valved sippies are no different than a bottle. Can anyone speak to that?

Thanks for posting the topic. I can't tell you how many times I've vowed to invent the perfect sippy (and the perfect twin stroller) and become a millionaire. ;)

Our current favs are the First Years Take & Toss 10 oz cups, Nuby No-Spill Cup, and Playtex Quick Straw cups. The Take & Toss are easy to clean and when they get icky we toss them; but there are no valves so they'll leak. The Nuby's are really nice because they barely leak at all, but the valves are hard to clean, so we use them mostly for water. The straw cups are what we started with and not we don't use them much because its they got expensive to replace every time the straw got icky.

We have a cabinet full also. First it was Nuby, but they couldn't hold them, then I tried the straw sippies and they could do these I just hated that any little bit of liquid in the straw got everywhere. We have finally settled in these playtex soft spout cups. They are working great now.
