    Hi,
I had my visit early with my high risk ob yesterday and everthing is looking great he said. The baby weighs now 6 lbs and the diabetes is under control. We talked alittle about delivery dates but, he said that he would have to contact my regular ob to confirm that he wants him to delivery me?
I'm very upset & confused how to handle this.
Some back ground on the docs: my regular ob delivers at a small hospital with no NICU so, if the least little bit thing is wrong with the baby (sugar levels or breathing, etc.) they will fly him out to the NICU in pensacola where my high risk dr delivers. So I'd be in a different hospital 2 hours away until they released me from my c-section(2-3 days.)
But, if the high risk ob delivers me I'd be in the same hospital as the baby if there were to be problems.
So I called my regular ob today and spoke with the nurse and she got all in a tissy and told me I needed to come in and talk with the regular ob and he would have to make the decission!
Ok I'm confused so do I not have any say? I should be able to choose which dr I want right?
What would you do? How would you handle it? I have an appt on Monday with my regular ob.
Thanks for letting me vent and I really hope someone can give me some advise!!

I would totally choose who you were comfortable with and if that is the high risk OB then I think it should be your choice. That being said I don't know how your health system works there so I am hoping that you would be able to do so. Here I would be able to pick who delivers and I did with my twins. I didn't like my first OB and my second was good but opted with the specialist to be on the safe side. Best of luck

Yes the insurance covers both but, I'm just so stressed that they aren't letting me make the choice and they giving me the run around.
I'm going to settle it though on Monday this is crazy!!!

That's a tough one. I really don't know how it works, but I assume that you would have some choice in the matter. Is it going to be a scheduled c/s? That would make things a lot simpler. If not, I really don't know how you could choose since obviously you'd be much further away from the high-risk doc, and they might not want to babysit an induction or spontaneous labor. My advice, take a deep breath. Go to your monday appointment with an open mind to hear what your doctor lays out as your options. Don't make any decisions right then and there even if what he says makes you upset... then if you don't like what he says, take some time to figure out what your options are. You should not need to make another face to face appointment with your doctor, you should be able to leave a message and have him call you back at his convenience if you need to talk with him further. You still have several weeks to work this out, so if you need to take drastic measures you probably still have time to do so.

Yes, it will be a sched c/section this time.
That's why it's frustrating alittle we wanted to go ahead and get some kind of date set so we can get the family rounded up to figure out who will be keeping the twins.
I appericate all your responses :)

I faced sort of the same dilemma when I was pregnant with the twins. I could have delivered at my regular ob's hospital but had anything gone wrong, the babies would have been taken to a hospital in Bethesda without me. My husband is in the Air Force so ultimately I had the choice to pick my hospital and I decided we would deliver at Bethesda Naval where they had a level 3 NICU. At 38 weeks I didn't expect anything to go wrong and I didn't have diabetes, but my DS was born two pounds smaller than my DD and was hypoglocemic and was taken to the NICU a few hours after delivery and stayed there for six days. Had we not decided to deliver there he would have been 45 minutes aways from me. Do what makes you feel comfortable and if you offend your doctor then oh well. You are the mother and ultimately no one is going to look out for your child the way you will. Put up a fight if you have to, it's your body, your baby, your family. Good luck!

Appt went well yesterday. All is great with the baby and if I make it over the 36 week mark we will be delivering with the regular OB. I had a real long positive talk with him and I explained all my concerns.
He will have a pedi. on call and will be present the time baby "Luke" arrives. I go back on Mon 26th to set a sched c-section date. We are very excitied and glad the end is really near!!
Thanks Everyone for all your thoughts & replies :)
    I'll keep you updated!
