Would you all please explain what happens at your biophysical profiles? What they do, how long it takes, does yours include a NST, etc.....

BPP's basically check the well-being of the babies. They measure the fluid, the heartrate, check for movement, and practice breathing. The babies recieve a score from all of these tests. I don't recall the range? I did not have an NST with my BPP's, they were always separate. As far as how long it took, it just depends on the babies and if they are cooperating, especially with the breathing and movement. Usually about 1/2 hour though.

An NST was not part of my BPP, it was an U/S that concentrated on the specifics that Becky mentioned. Usually at the end of the BPP they provide an estimated weight of the babies.

The reason I'm asking is that I am only having bpps, no nst at all. They told me it wasn't necessary to do both. I was sceduled to have a twin measurement yesterday at MFM. They did exactly what they always do for a measurement appt. It was about 10 min long. The tech seems to get faster with every appt. She goes so quickly I don't have a chance at telling what she is measuring. When she listened and measured the heart rate it took all of 4 secs, maybe. How in the world can they see an increase of heart rate in that amount of time. I completely do not believe they did a bpp at all. I think the tech did a measurement scan and the DR thought she did a bpp. I tried asking when they were going to start bpps and he said they started them today.

I've lost 2 babies already. I don't want to loose another just cause they want to cut corners.

Did they watch for movement and practice breathing?? Also measuring fluid?? Doesn't sound like they were very thorough. I do remember at the end(my brain is foggy!)the peri said that I didn't have to do the NST's anymore because I was having weekly BPP's and that they were more accurate in determining the well-being of the babies. I would ask lots of questions if I were you! :hug99: If they did a BPP, the babies should have received a score.
