Okay, first off, I am a constant worrier...
My question is, how common is it for a baby to die in utero and for the mother to NOT know of this?

I'm currently 14w4d with twins sharing one placenta. So far, the weights/measurements/hb's have all been great. Also, I have had two previous pregnancies, where I've had healthy, beautiful girls (7lb 7oz, 8lb 6oz). I don't go back to the Doctor until the 25th and all I do is worry! I have felt movement atleast two times this week, but ofcourse nothing constant yet. Then I start reading about PTL and TTTS...and my mind starts spinning!!

I'm not sure what the answer to your question is, but I will tell you I had the same fears. The weeks in between my ob appts were torture. I've calmed down quite a bit (thankfully) probably due to the fact that I'm seeing a peri for u/s every 2 weeks (which I have been since week 18) because my babies also share a placenta. Are you seeing a peri and having regular ultrasounds? That eased my mind tremendously. Try not to worry. When I was 14 weeks, I would go 3-5 days sometimes without any movement. Congratulations on your twins, by the way!

Yeah I'm going to see my OB on the 25th and the Peri on the 31st. Hopefully then, I'll be on the every other week schedule! I'm considering renting a Baby Beat doppler for a few months too..that should help, I hope LOL.

Wow! you are feeling movement at 14 weeks? I didn't start feeling them until 19 weeks. I don't really have answers for your questions, I didn't have those issues, but I just wanted to remind you that being a nervous all the time isn't healthy. Although I know it's hard to do. I was the same way, I worried about everything. I didn't know of Twinstuff at the time so I didn't know what other twin moms go through, maybe that was a good thing :winking0009:

    Hang in there!

Don't even think about those things! You will feel a lot better once you see your peri, but if you start to worry this soon you will be a mess by 20 weeks besides it is not healthy. I know just being pregnant with twins makes you paranoid. I was at first because you have so many questions.....but please don't think neagative. Just look to this site for constant support and we all are here to support you.

It's so hard not to worry! Try to make a concious effort to be positive. If you have a scary thought, try to immediatly replace it witha positive thought. Think about how sweet your babies are going to be, ponder what what they'll look like, make a list of baby names, a list of all of the things you need, think about what you want to teach them, and your hopes and dreams for them.

Take good care of yourself. Eat, drink lots of water, rest and enjoy your pregnancy. Get some reassurance from you OB and use the info. that she gives you to make good decisions. I know it's really hard not to worry! But, when you hear about things like TTS and pre term labor, try not to go crazy researching unless your OB tells you that she has concerns. Not that you shouldn't be informed, but less info. can be a blessing!

    Good luck!

I had read on some website, don't know which it was awhile ago, that after 12 wks the miscarrage rate of twins is down to 5%, which is so low. Positive thinking is key, Imagine your 2 healthy babies and nothing is going to go wrong.
Look down, give that belly a hug and love your babies. Everything will be o.k.

I can not really answer that questions but, I do think it is natural to worry. I did not always feel the boys move as actively one day as another but, try not to worry because remember stress is not great for you or the babies.
