Hi there Im new here- so please just guide me in the right direction if Im doing something wrong! My id girls are 15 months and in Jan we thinking of sending them to playschool- is this way to early? I am a stay at home Mom but I actually just can not find anything that stimualtes them enough and they just seem to moan all day out of sheer boredom!! Another thing- is it just twins that are SO busy all day- they just seem to bounce off each other all the time and never have any down time!! Thanks for your help-Im at my wits end!!
Depends what you have in mind . . . all day every day? I think that's a bit much, unless it's necessary due to both parents working. Half days several days a week? They might love it, and it would give you a nice break. My twins started daycare at 2 1/2, but the school takes kids starting at 15 months, and they seem to do fine (even those that are there for long days). Mine love having a chance to play with other kids, with different toys, do arts and crafts (which for some reason I just hate doing at home), playing on the school playground pretty much every day (when it's not covered by snow!). So, I'd say go for it if you can find a program that you're happy with. If it doesn't work out, they can always stop going. -Rachel
Mine are just going from all day school to only 2 days a week since I'm no longer working. They all loved it. But since it doesn't make sense for me to send them to school all the time, we're looking at other classes and things to do - library, YMCA classes, our parks department does a lot in the spring through fall - things like that. I'm hoping that works for mine since I don't want them to be bored with just me now on most days.
Mine went 1 morning a week for 3 hours starting just before their 2nd bday. It was a "one year old" class with a Sept. 1st cutoff. I would have sent them at 1 if I could! I think if it's just one or two mornings a week that it would be good for them and you
When my oldest was 17 months, she went to a playschool two times a week for 3 hours at a time. She loved it, & I could plan my OB appointments around it!
Thanks so much for your help- they will only be going 2 mornings a week- but you know what its like sending them away!!! Thanks again!!!
I put my oldest in a similar program (2 mornings per week for a few hours) starting at 18 months old. He LOVED it! It was so nice that he could go play with other kids for awhile. This was a program being run by the university DH was attending, and it was fantastic! I've never found a better program. It was run by students working on degrees in child development. The head teacher was a PhD student, the two assistants were working on Master's degrees and Undergrad students came every day with lesson plans. They did such creative activities, and at the end I got a GIGANTIC binder with Matt's work and tons of assesments the students had done on him for their classes. I bet your girls will just love it!
