I am trying to really finish off the boy's playroom and wanted to get the big activity mats with all the letters and colors on them. I was reading some of the different reviews on them and one mentioned that they don't work well on carpet becuase they come apart easily. Does anyone have any that they have used on carpet? Where besides Toys R Us can I buy them?

I had the large blue squares from TRU on top of my carpet and I don't think they came apart easily. Sorry, but I'm not sure where else to buy them.

We use them on the carpet with no problems so far.
I got mine at Ross for half the price at Toy R Us.
Good luck with the playroom!

Not to steal your thread, but why do people use them? I can see on the floot to make it soft. Just curious, wondering if I should get some. Are you just using them for playing with? Thanks for letting me add on.

We got ours for our living room at BJs. And they work great on the carpet.

We used ours because they're so, so, so much easier to clean up than carpet! My girls (well Ellie really!) spit up like crazy! And the damage she was doing to the carpet was insane! So we got the mats and wipe up and go!

ETA: Now that they don't spit up anymore, it's really not a big deal and we only have them in the 'toy' corner of the living room at this point.

My boys have a rug in their room with animals on it and have always been fascinated (sp?) by it, they try to pick the animals up off it  . So I figured they would like all the colors and numbers and shapes on the mat, plus they spit up all over the carpet all the time. I though the mats might be a little easier to clean and it would save our carpet. I think they are supposed to be good for learning colors and recognizing numbers and stuff too.

We converted our dining room into a play room and put the foam mats down in there. I bought 2 x 2 squares in primary colors at Lowes and they work great on top of our carpet.

We use them for the color, for the padding and for easy clean up for spills and such.

We have them on carpet and they do kind of come apart easily. Our guys are too young to want them apart so we used duct tape on the back and taped it all together. It stays together and when we clean, we can move it in one piece!

we bought ours from OneStepAhead and love them! THey do not come apart easily...we can pull ours across the floor with an indoor play yard and toys and 2 babies on them...and they don't budge...they are very durable. been using them for months and months...we haVe hardwood floors and I think they've saved my sanity! Now that the babies are bigger, they pop the letters out and play with them like a puzzle!

We just ordered some from here ... I'm not sure how they compare in price, because we wanted to spell out the kids names, so I didn't want a whole alphabet, I just wanted very specific letters. I love them. We have the 2 X 2 ones in primary colors ... and are adding the kids names to expand it a bit.

I don't have the alphabet ones all over, because a few people told me they were harder to clean, because of all the nooks and crannies if things get spilled. So we went with the big solid color ones.

There are quite a few sites online that sell them, so you can look around and compare prices.
