My ds gags and vomits at the site of Play doh... I don't know if it is just the smell or the touch,
how can I help him overcome this? Meanwhile dd loves it... and is such a fun activity (outside)
he does well with sand and everything else (although he asks for his hands to be clear right away, but
    I'm fine with that!)

Can you try homemade play dough? I think there are a number of recipes on line.

I thought the exact same thing. HERE is a recipe that looks neat! You could try to make some; I'm sure it won't smell like Play Doh so at least you'll be able to figure out if it's the scent or the look that is grossing him out.

    Good luck! :)

i'm so sorry but i laughed out loud when i read this because i can totally sympathize. i've got a weird thing with objects that have little holes or dimples in them, even tufted leather furniture makes me gaggy. some of us have weird turn-offs, i guess.

it might just be something that rubs him the wrong way. texture, you know? i agree that you could try a recipe for homemade dough and see if he does better. if he does, maybe it's the smell that was turning him off.

I wonder if he's remembering touching a new container?? its really sticky and smelly...

anyway, hopefully your own recipe will be perfect for him!

I would try making some homemade play dough and get him involved in it if you can. I recently saw a recipe for edible peanut butter play dough. I was also going to suggest the crayola model magic clay. It's like play dough, but much lighter, a different texture and doesn't crumble.

You could try pizza dough ( I use the store bought kind, pilsbury), same texture as play dough but with a better smell (and taste)!

I agree, try homemade playdough. You could use coconut oil instead of vegetable oil to improve the smell. I have also added scented hand lotion to mine.
