Has anyone else had this condition?

Can you tell me your story? How far along were you when they found it? How far along before you delivered?

This pregnancy has been so challenging. I had no idea...NONE...that twins were such work.

MaKettle- IF YOU SCARE EASILY PLEASE DISREGARD MY POST!!!!!

    Otherwise read on.......

Sadly this condition has affected my last 4 pregnancies (not current pregnancy though).

An abruption is when the placenta prematurly seperates from the uterine wall. It can be partial or complete.

Odds of baby and mothers survival increase with the doctor finding the bleed in time.

I lost a singleton in 2000 due to complete abruption, ds blead to death.

With my 1st twin pregnancy I had a partail abruption, baby b. I delivered via emergency c-section at 28w3d.

2nd twin pregnancy complete abruption, massive hemmorage, loss of twins at 31w.

3rd twin pregnancy one comple one partial, a bled out, b survived 2 1/2 days; delivered at 26w3d.

This pregnancy the dr has put me on hospital bed rest to monitor closely for the condition, and does twice weekly ultrasounds to check on the condition of the placentas.

I am a worst case senario, so please do not get too scared. My family history has alot to do with my problems, several women in my familt have had the same condition during pregnancy.

HI. I had a placental abruption with Baby A. I started having tremendous pain on my left side for 30 minutes at a time. When I called the dr, I was told it was ligament stretching. Finally after a few days of this I told my husband that I didn't agree and was calling in the morning to be seen. I woke up to find myself bleeding. My water broke 2 hours later & then labor started. I delivered the next morning & that is when the abruption was found. Thank goodness that my DD was okay, however, it could have easily not have turned out that way. Good luck.

I have not had this happen to me but one of my coworkers has. She lost her first baby at 28w due to the force the placenta abrupted with and her second at 22 weeks. She is currently schduled to go into the hospital on bed rest at 24w (she is 20w now) how many weeks are you? All she is taking is a baby asprin a day, are you on any meds?

Sorry I couldn't be more help and thank you for any info you have.

Best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy

I hestitated to answer your question when you first posted. My sister lost 2 babies to placenta abruptions, one pretty early and the other at 15 wks. They have other genetic issues though, and she chooses to believe God just took the babies earlier rather than having to bury more full term babies.

I hope they keep a great eye on you so that you can carry till the babies do really well.

I'm not sure how far you are, but my mom had a complete abruption with her twins 30 years ago at 37 weeks. Thankfully her wonderful doctors were able to save both babies with an emergency c-section. Good luck to you.

Thank you, ladies, for sharing your stories and information.

It was scary at first, but I feel better now. It sounds like the keys to success are to detect it early (I am at 20 weeks), and to monitor it carefully. And most importantly, to stay on bed rest.

We have to go to the doctor now about every 5 or 6 days or so. We'll be collecting more information, and we will watch the separation carefully.

I fully expect to be admitted to the hospital around week 25.

The good news is my previa is correcting itself faster than the doctors thought I would. It's just a matter of taking it one step at a time.

I appreciate your stories very much.

I do not have any info on this but wanted to wish you lots of blessings and love. I sounds like you are getting great care and from everyone else's posts seems to be the key! Best wishes on your journey ahead! (((Hugs)))

When I was 33 weeks, I was having pain that woke me up in the middle of the night. I thought it was normal, but decided to go to the hospital anyways. They did a non-stress test and sent me home. 2 days later, I had the most sudden and debilitating pain. I called 911 and was rushed to the hospital. They really couldn't figure out what was wrong wih me, but the pain was horrendous. Eventually, Baby B's vitals were dropping significantly. They decided to do an emergency c-section. The girls were born in distress and Baby B almost didn't make it. The Dr said I was full of blood and had never ever seen anything like it before in her entire career. The girls both survived and are fantastic lil 3 year olds! It was an ordeal, but I was very lucky.

I am hoping it will never happen again, especially since I am newly pg and curious if it miught be twins again! I have met with a high risk and I think being on bedrest will help you significantly!

Sending good luck and many prayers your way!
