I went for my first trimester screening and NT scan yesterday. The twins looked good and were moving around like crazy. I think their measurements were really good and so were their hearts, but we don't get the final results until Friday because of the bloodwork (which I didn't think they did with twins, but that's another issue:) Anyway, the peri said that I have placenta previa, but not to worry because this is common in the first trimester and that they will monitor the situation as time goes on.

Has anyone had this diagnosed and then later had it change? Also, if it does persist, I can't really find any major complications listed besides bleeding (the peri put me on a no lifting/no sex restriction until my next appt) and c-section. I was already kinda guessing with mono/di twins that we'd end up with a c-section anyway...so is this something I should be worrying about?

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Mindy - At 3 1/2 months I was diagnosed with placenta previa. Once of my girls was laying on top of her placenta and the pressure on my cervix was causing me to spot several time. At 4 months I was put on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy. One of my girls liked to spread out and take over the entire space so my other girl would just hang very low on my tummy and would continue to lay on her placenta. The bedrest really helped because it kept me off my feet and it relieved the pressure. As long as you rest as much as possible - you should be fine. I delivered at 37 weeks. :D

    Take care and Good Luck!

Remember - try and rest and stay off your feet. :good:

I will definitely take it easy so that I can hopefully avoid bedrest....that doesn't sound like fun. Did you deliver vaginally or by c-section? Was it due to the placenta previa or something else? It was definitely reassuring to know you made it to 37 weeks:)

    Thank you for your response.

I had a c-section because one of my girls was breech. Towards the 3rd Trimester the baby that was laying down on the placenta moved up a little so the placenta moved up a bit. The placenta can move up but if it doesn't and it's laying over the cervix, then chances are you can't do a natural birth delivery. Though the placenta was no longer over the cervix, I still had to have a c-section because of the breech baby.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to PM. :D

I had a placenta previa from the very get-go.
It was a complete previa as opposed to a partial one & it stayed that way throughout the whole pregnancy.
I delivered via planned c-section at 38 weeks (i was going to have a section regardless of the previa or not).
I was on bedrest for only the last 4 weeks or so of the pregnancy, but I worked up till I was 7 months pregnant!
I had a really great pregnancy overall & the only concern was that my dr. did not want me to go into labor on my own, so they just watched me super carefully towards the end & I got ultrasounds every week. I never went into real labor before my c/s so everything went just great :)
In most cases the placent does move though, so hopefully yours will as the babies grow!!
    :)

Thank you both for your responses. One last question. Did either of you spot continuously? When did it start and did it ever stop? I only spotted at about 5 weeks, but haven't had any issues with it since then. I'm trying to follow the doc's orders about lifting, but with my DD that's not all that easy.

    Thanks again...

    Hello,

I was told I had placenta previa in the begining of the pregnancy from my OB. But then my specialist
said I never had it, he said my placneta was low lying. I was a little nervous about it all. Take the sex
and no lifting serious, I had bleeding at 13 weeks. The Dr.'s said I over did it. I'm mono/di too-
They say placenta previa a lot of the time moves. So hopefully it does for you. Take it easy.

    Hey mindy,
nope no spotting during my pregnancy, but I did follow the lifting rules (somewhat) especially in the 2nd & 3rd trimester.
I think that at the end they didnt even want me to lift over 10lbs?
I was really careful towards the end so that I didnt cause myself to go into labor.

yep, early on in my pregnancy i was diagnosed with one also. my dr said not to worry because the more your stomach stretches out, it pulls the placenta up with it. and it went away on its own!!

I spotted a little bit one night, which is why i went in for an u/s, and she said it was probably caused from the previa
