Just curious about placenta position for twins. I am 28w5d with di/di twin girls - don't know if they are identical or fraternal - however the first peri Dr I saw said she would guess they are fraternal.
Anyways at my last 2 growth scans with the peri Dr, they mentioned that Baby A is breech (1st scan she was vertex) with a posterior placenta and Baby B is vertex (at 1st scan was breech) has an anterior placenta position. I have tried to look for this on the internet, but seems very confusing since most cases I have read are related to singletons. I know from my 1st pregnancy that I had a low placenta and was watched to make sure that it moved up and by the end of my pregnancy it did and then the concern for placenta previa was gone. So wasn't sure what others are experiencing. I do have a Dr appt this week with both OB/GYN and Peri and I will definitely ask, but just been on my mind for some reason.. Any thoughts?

My fraternal twins had different placenta positioning. I could never really feel baby A move because her placenta was in front, cushioning everything. Baby B on the other hand, had the placenta towards my back and i could feel her every move. Very common.

I agree, it is very common. My frat twins had different placenta positioning too. Baby B's was in front so I had a harder time feeling him.

Mine are the same, one posterior and one anterior placenta. The anterior position doesnt mean low lying. Just means that it is positioned at the front of your tummy rather than around your back.

I have two low lying placentas (anterior and posterior) and my cervix is covered for now. I am early (16wks tomorrow) and they are not too worried. I hope you get your answers at your appt

I agree with the others. Mine have different positions too. My Baby A has a posterior placenta and she is Head Down, and my Baby B has an anterior placenta and she switches from Breech to Sideways at least twice a day (she hasn't tried to turn down yet - if she ever will). Neither are low lying. Even if they are low lying, they can move up as the pregnancy progresses.
