Placenta accreta

Anyone heard of this or dealt with it? Here is the Wikipedia article on it.

 

Is this what they think you have Ronda? I hadn't heard of it before...I have a similar issue...my placenta is attached to some scar tissue from previous m/c. They are also worried about hemmorrhaging and hysterectomy, but they also say now that they know what the issue is...it would be easier for them to deal with should a problem arise. Does this affect your VBAC potential? I hope you get an easy birth after all this worrying!!

 

I didn't have it, but I had a subchorionic hemmorage with my pg with Julianna, which put me in a category which was more at risk for having it. So I did a lot of research on it. It's really important that they do a thorough diagnoses of it via u/s...as it's a fairly scary thing. If it's severe enough I'm pretty sure it eliminates vbac possibility due to the risk of hemmorage or need for hysterectomy. I hope it's not something you are facing. :hug99:

Yes I've seen and dealt with it. Usually cannot confirm until delivery, Ultrasound is not realiable way to diagnose. Very serious, I would reccomend a c-section if there is a possibility. Usually onlt a possibility if you've had previous c/section, but have seen 1 case where no previous c-section. I'm a L & D nurse. I'm new here. My twins are 17 months. Let me know if you have other questions. I've been lurking here because we are thinking of TTC soon. Does your provider think you may have this ?

I have a client who had this. They had no clue until delivery. She ended up with a total hysterectomy.
