I was changing Seanie's diaper tonight and there was a freaking pinworm in it!!! :icon_eek:  :bad: No wonder he's been crabby for the past week and James too for that matter. Ugh, I feel sick! :bad: :bad: :bad: I bagged the little sucker and put him in 2 Ziplocks and a Tupperware in case the doc needs to see him. Yuck yuck yuck!!!

Has anyone else here dealt with pinworm, is it easy to cure or is it a pain in the butt (pun intended)?

 Oh no! I have heard of it but not sure of the cause. Sounds like a good idea to let the doc see. Hope it clears up soon!! Poor baby!

OY! Jenny, that sounds yucky!! It probably has to be a pretty easy fix, just a gross diagnosis. They'll probably want to take samples of his stool which won't be fun!

Call me stupid, but what is it and how do they get it?

It's a little white worm that crawls out their heiny to lay eggs. :bad: It's highly contagious but it's not harmful other than it causes their bum bum to itch and they don't sleep as well. Here's a link to pinworm info.

I am really unhappy about this.

I was a nanny for three children in college, and all three got it. Their dad didn't even know! He was an airline pilot, and had been gone for a couple of days. The little girl came in and told me there were worms in her poo - crying and scared. She was 7 - so it was pretty traumatizing! I went through the whole house with Clorox and wiped EVERY surface, washed all the sheets and made them wash their hands constantly.

The fix was pretty easy - I believe it was a liquid medicine they took for a couple of days and it went away. I was Cloroxing for WEEKS, though! Good luck. It is soooo gross! Wash your hands frequently, too. :)

Oh no Jenny!!! Yuck Yuck Yuck!!! I saw them on Oprah and am now terrified that the kids could pick them up somewhere! Wash hands like crazy and bleach all of their toys! I hope you get rid of them soon!

:bad: I don't know about humans, but when my cat had worms, she only needed one pill (which is good because cats and pills don't go together very well) and she was cured.

YUK......I'd be freaking out too! Do you have any ideas where it came from? UH..I couldn't bring myself to click on the link to read about it. Maybe later I'll get up enough nerve!

I used to read the medical book as a child and I read about pinworms and then was paranoid about it. I would look in the toilet after I went to see if there were any worms! OK, that was TMI! I would be freaking too. Hope it's an easy fix. I've dealt with worms in cats and it's usually just a medication to kill it off.

Jenny, I am so sorry you have to deal with this. I would probably lose it. Makes me nervous about taking my girls to work. Glad it sounds like an easy fix, just ucky to think about.

Do you have pets? They could have gotten them from there. If you do, have them checked. I worked at an animal hospital so I know that they can pass from animals to humans.

That is so GROSS! I am so sorry your little bubbas have it. I've never personally dealt with it...and certainly don't want to!

    ((hugs))

    EEK!
When someone was telling me about these not long ago, I was like, NOOOOO THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE. It just sounds too weird and now you have to deal with them! I'm so sorry!
Can you please let us know what the dr says about it, and what kind of med they end up with? And how long it takes to go away?
Also, everyone says it's a "daycare" thing (though we parents know that that same stuff can end up anywhere!). Do your kids go to daycare? I'm just curious.

A common place to get them is sandboxes, especially public or open sandboxes. Cats use them as litterboxes and then the kids sit in the sand...well you get the idea. Make sure your kids only play in sandboxes that are covered at all times when not in use!
