My babies are 11 months old and my son seems to only start coughing at night--usually pretty good coughing spells. I think it's because he is flat and everything starts to drain causing the greater number of coughing attacks. I was just wondering if anyone has a pillow in your child's bed and if so at what age did you start? I know peds recommend 2 yrs, so am I terrible if I do it before?

With my oldest she did not use a pillow until she moved into a bed a little after age 2. I would not put a pillow in with an 11 month old. Like PP said, they do make wedges for the crib.
A girl I know that works in my dr's office said to put something like books underneath the mattress to elevate the head. That way it's still elevating, but you don't have to worry about anything in with them. You might try having a humidifier running, if you dont' already. That might help with the coughing.
I had a pillow in my girls cribs at around 17mths. But if you don't want to use a pillow just fold up a blanket and put it under his mattress it will elevate and you can adjust it to how much of an elevation you want. That's what we have in our son's crib now and it elevates it nicely.
when my girls had colds, I put towels under the head of their cribs to elevate the head of the bed. they seemed to sleep better this way when they were sick...hope he gets better soon!
You could use something under the sheet or better yet, under the mattress.....raise the head of the mattress...worth a shot!
