I haven't been feeling well since Sunday. Well duh obviously, due to my due date ;). But this was different. I went and got a BP cuff and have been taking my BP. Originally I was running in the 110s/70s. Now it has been consistantly in the 140s/80s. I have alot of the mild symptoms, puffiness in the face and hands, pitting edema from the hips down, and occassionally achiness in the upper right quad. I have been sort of headachy since Sunday, but it goes away easily enough with Tylenol. Fortunately, there was no protein in my urine in the office yesterday even though I gained 8 pounds since my appointment the week before. I am going for a whole slew of tests this morning and will be starting the 24 hour urine.

I was just curious as to others experiences with either PIH or PreE. I am thinking it is just PIH since no protein and the BP is barely what is considered high. Just looking for others experiences and what their readings where before any diagnosis.

    TIA

I am glad the docs are taking care of you. I had pre e with my last that almost killed me. I gained 25 pounds between one week appts and my docs did not want to deliver. I also had 150/90 bp (mine was usually 90/54). They did not want to do nothing since I was just 37 weeks. My mother just happened to be w/ me and was fussing them out. But it did number on my body. Just dont let up on the docs until you have an answer. Good luck and let us know how everything goes. I am interested to know.

I have been dealing with PIH. My bp went from 120/80 to 150/100 in one week at 19 weeks. I also had trace protein in my urine. I was put on bedrest and had the slew of bloodtests and the 24 hour urine test. Thankfully, they came back negative for pre-e at this time. I was taken off bedrest, with strict orders not to work more than 5 hours a day and stay off my feet.

So far it has worked, my bp is back down to 120/80 range, although I still have protein in my urine. They are monitoring me weekly, but so far so good.

Good luck, the biggest thing that has helped me was the rest, I feel better and the mild swelling I was having is gone for now at least. So stay off those feet!

I'm sorry you're feeling so yucky! I had pre-e. and it sounds to me like you might not have to worry about it quite yet. It sounds like your blood pressure is still in the decent range and no protein in your urine is good!!!! Take care of yourself and try to drink lots of water.

I've got the high blood pressure too but no other systems. My paperwork does have the PIH diagnosis. Mine had been running consistently something/high 70's for months (kind of high, but not too bad) then Monday jumped to 150/100 and Wednesday 148/98 and 100/80 when I laid on my left side for 10 minutes. I got a whole bunch of blood work which came back fine and am now doing the 24 hr urine thing - isn't that fun when you have to pee every 5 minutes. :p My OB does not think it's pre-e but I'm being monitored twice a week. I'm on bedrest too (not strict) for cervical changes so that does seem to help. I've noticed I get winded very easily when I move around.

Definitely make sure your OB is keeping a close eye on you, pre-e sounds really nasty from what I hear!

My nurse says the only cure for the high blood pressure is to delivery the placenta(s.) I guess till then we just grin and bear it!

Thank you for posting this question! I'm in the same boat - blood pressure has gone up from 90-something/60-something to 140/80 (now at 37 weeks), with swelling that makes it really difficult to sit or stand for long and a persistent headache. But no protein yet, and apparently my lower number isn't high enough to worry anyone yet. It's so helpful to hear other folks' numbers and experiences!

Thank you for your comments ladies. I did the blood work this morning. They should have gotten the results by now. So, I am guessing that everything so far is okay or they would have called me to come in or something. I take back the 24 hour urine tomorrow. I will call in the afternoon tomorrow just to be sure what all the results were. But as they haven't called, I am guessing things are okay. I can't imagine the lab would be that slow since his office is right in the hospital. But you never know.
