My LO's will be a year old next week and they finally have their first tooth but they were kind of behind on table food. We jumped in last month and they've been doing great. Then they got the stomach flu 2 weekends ago and they're still teething and all of a sudden they don't want to eat much except for the dang Cheerios! I'm transitioning them to whole milk so I really think they need to be eating a good portion of "food". We still have several jars of veggies and fruit (but no more dinners) so I give those to them and they'll eat those but they're being SO picky with the "real" stuff where before they were gobbling down cheese, meat, bread, veggies, fruit. I don't know what to do. I hate to go backwards and go back to the jars but they need to eat. I keep thinking they'll eat if they're hungry but goodness gracious. Anyone have any ideas? They won't even eat "soft" foods really. DS will eat mac n cheese but DD spits it out.

I would just keep offering them a variety of foods. When they get sick, it will often throw off their eating for awhile, but they should bounce back if you just keep giving it to them. It's so frustrating, I know, when they won't eat anything.

I am having the same problem getting mine to eat more tablefoods...well actually on with Kelsey. Ryley is a human garbage disposal and will eat anything!! He always has to be right with me when I am eatting so he can have bites to. His new fave, Eggplant Parmigiana. Kelsey is very picky and will spit almost anything out. She does love jello though and chicken noodle soup. I am just going to keep trying and eventually *hopefully* she will catch on

I agree with pp. Keep offering it to them and hopefully they will bouce back soon. My one boy is a walking garbage disposal and the other one not so much. He doesn't like anything with texture so no eggs, potatoes ... but I just keep making them and offering hoping that he will just one day like to eat them!

Thanks ladies! We'll keep trying. They're picky about texture as well. DS used to be horrible but now DD is the one that's bad. I got one of those Toddler meals and tried that for something different (it was like a really cut up beef stew sort of) and DS ate some of it but stopped after a little bit. DD would take a bite and then spit it out and wipe off her tongue with her hand. LOL Seriously this container was 1 serving and for as much as they "ate" tonight it would be like 10 servings between them - maybe!! I really hope they start eating more soon. They are nice and healthy. Definitely have a bit of chunk to them ;) so I'm not thinking they're going to wither away to nothing but I don't want them to lose weight!

I don't have any advice for you since my boys are the opposite right now (preferring to feed themselves, though they also prefer Cheerios to anything else!) but just wanted to say I can't believe your babies are almost ONE already! Is it just me or has the second half of this first year been flying by? (And congrats on your new baby btw! I paged you a few weeks ago to say that but not sure if you saw it. :))

Mine lived on YogurtMelts (Gerber) and puffs at that stage. They are still super picky eaters and I even will resort back to baby foods when I know they've eaten nothing with nutrients in it during the day.

Glad to hear it's not just mine then. I keep chugging away and offering. Maybe I'll pick up a couple dinner jars to try and get some nutrients in them but offer the other stuff too. ?? I never know what to do.

Well, my guys are 15 months old and we still need to resort to the occasional baby food meal or pureed veggie just to make sure they get enough of something. Just keep offering table foods and keep some jars in reserve. They'll gradually eat more and more "real" foods, I promise!
