OK, my girls are on the big side, and they really are getting physically too big for high chairs, mostly the restaurant kind. Those booster seats at restaurants make me nervous, though. On our trip, we ate at some relatives houses and they didn't have high chairs, and they did so-so sitting in regular seats. They can reach the table OK, sitting still is the problem. Once we tried no high chairs at a restaurant, and they kept standing up in the booth, it was a disaster. So, what do you do in this stage? Can I buy like a seat belt or something, and strap them to a regular chair?

Ours were pretty much out of the high chairs at that point. When we go to restaurants, I bring an aresenal of special "treats" to keep them busy (stickers, small notepads, golf pencils, etc.). Mine are good eaters too, so once the food arrives we are good to go!

My girls went on a strike againist highchairs about 8-9 months ago. The first couple of times out they gave a slight problem, but overall it isn't that bad.

Stick to buffets at restaurants. No waiting for food - and they get the thrill of picking out what they want to eat.

We take them out to eat all the time at restaurants. Depending the place the boys sit on the chairs or on the plastic booster. And we just expect them to sit there. We have crayons, paper, crackers, chips, etc., to keep them occupied until the food comes. They're not always perfect, but they know what is expected of them. Just keep at it!

those plastic boosters at restaurants make me nervous too. we have to sit right next to them and keep them steady in them. at home we recently switched to the cooshie boosters which are working great for us.
