The girls are having a crappy nap day and we have a new babysitter coming tonight so I was trying to get them fed and down for a nap, so they aren't totally unbearable tonight. While feeding and convincing one to go down my phone rang I checked the call display MIL (likely nothing important and once on the phone she talks forever. Then 15 minutes later while still fighting with Victoria to go to sleep there is a knock at my door I didn't look to see who it was, but I know it was my MIL and I choose to ignore it. The last person I want to deal with today is my MIL on top of two cranky babies.
I don't feel bad about ignoring if she had of given me time to call her back I likely would have or if not would have told my dh to call her back when he is home from work. It pisses me off that she just shows up at my door!

I have no problem ignoring the phone and door when trying to get babies to nap. My mom and SIL watch mine while I work and I started calling their cell phones (which they keep on vibrate) to call and check on them. I never know when the are holding a sleeping baby and dont want to wake them.
That is crazy the MIL called and then came over 15 minutes later...wonder why????

I ignore the phone all the time! The door not usually, but we kind of live in the sticks, so not that many people show up unannounced anyway ;)

The phone, if I'm in the middle of something or don't recognize the #, more often than not, I don't answer it. If it's that important, they'll leave a message! That's one reason I haven't been able to get rid of our caller ID, DH and I just downgraded our home phone service but I couldn't get rid of it!

Same here! I do check caller id when I can -and then decide to answer or not. If you're not expecting someone at the door I usually do not answer it. It seems like whenever I do it is a sales person

Before I had my boys I would ignore the phone and the door and feel slightly guilty. Now w/ the boys I do it all the time. :D Do what you need to do to get through the day! I hope you have a fun night out on the town w/ DH.

Yep. I even disconnected our doorbell! I was tired of having the postman or UPS ring the bell, wake up the girls, and then not even wait for me to get to the door - they just leave the package anyway around here, at least.

*hugs* Cranky babies are no phone.

Yes, ignore, ignore, ignore. If it is an emergency a message will be left or who ever is at the door would not go away.

Yep, all the time. Love caller display. I will usually check to see who it is and then decide whether to answer, but sometimes I can't even do that.

Weird that your MIL would show up at the door...let us know what she wanted if you can.

:hug99: I'm sorry about your crappy day. I ignore the phone sometimes (I admit it, I screen!), but I rarely ignore the door, but thats because there is huge window in the front of my house and we are usually in that front room, so you can clearly see us from the front door!

I ignore the phone a lot. But sometimes it does not work because some people will just call back until I pick up.

Our message clearly says "we can't come to the phone, please leave a message an we'll get back to you as soon as we can". It drives me crazy when people won't leave a message, but continue to call. I have told them numerous times, but nobody seems to care.

Our door bell is very hard to hear so if someones rings it, I usually don't know it.

Not weird this is her usual routine she calls for form. When I don't answer it whether I am home or out. She then stops in with whatever excuse she has that day to see the girls and then won't leave for at least an hour. The main reason I didn't answer the door. I was annoyed before I found the bag hanging on my door with stuff in it I don't need or want and then a note saying that she has come down with a bad cold. Number one if you have a bad cold stay away from my house especially since she knows we are leaving on a long road trip next week.

Thanks - Glad I am not the only one in love with caller id

Sorry you were having a bad time. We ignore the phone and the door here, too, even when we are just having too much fun to stop. Although, it's more the crankiness that is causing the ignoring. :hug99: Hope the new babysitter worked out well!

I ignore the phone a LOT. The door I ignore esp for salesmen, rude people that don't call first and the religious sales people. I don't have time for people to stop by that are only going to keep me from getting something done, whether that is finally getting a few minutes to relax or being in the middle of being motivated and getting something done.

Absolutely! Ignore as often as I have to! There is nothing more frustrating than a sales call or someone wanting to sit and visit forever, when you are trying to put 2 babies down for a nap or are in the middle of feeding them. ARGH! You would think MIL would get that. Not all think though.... uh-duh... maybe she's busy?

I ABSOLUTELY ignored the phone when my boys were younger. Heck, truth be told...I STILL ignore it and they are 4! The doorbell was never an issue because we live in the sticks and never have company. When our mail lady has a package for me she will always knock quietly or she will even go to the back door because she knows the boys room is in the front of the house. She started doing that when they were babies and she has continued it. Love her! :)

that would make me mad too. There are lots of times when I am too busy with the babies to answer the phone. I usually get the door, but I don't have many people who come to my door so it's always a surprise to hear my doorbell ring.

I ignore the phone, especially my cell phone, all the time. I figure that is what caller ID and voicemail is for!

Yup. If I have time I will answer the phone and door but if I don't or don't feel like (99% of the time) I do not.
