I took the plunge and did the test, two in fact. The first one was postitive and I then did a second one and it came out negative...

Now I dont know how to feel. Have an appointment with teh doc on Monday for bloodwork tests and us but he thinks its just my hormone and that I am not pg. He said it is something called a negative positive.

Now I have mixed feelings. Arent I silly.. I have been saying no all the time and now I feel dissapointed.

Could the BFP be an evap line? Did it show up right away, or only after 10 min had passed? Hard to tell in the pic, it looks kind of grayish, could be an evap.

Also, it looks like the tests are different brands - different pg tests have different levels of sensitivity, that could explain it too.

:hug99: I'm sorry everything is up in the air! What an emotional roller coaster! I hope you get some answers soon.

Ummmm, take another test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stick with ones with the most sensitivity or better yet get 1,2,3(lol) from the dollar store. I have never seen a false positive before.

Okay..I can't see the pictures but being 9 (almost 10) months pp, I wouldn't think this "negative positive" thing would be an issue. Based on pp, if you did use two different tests that could make a different. Different urine could make a difference too. Or if you looked after the time limit.

I'm sorry you're left still wondering. Perhaps test again the morning with first morning urine and an equate test (not sure if that's what you used...can't see the pic).

How late are you? Or are you BF and not getting your period? If I were you I'd go and buy a first response test (they detect the lowest levels of hcg (thats the right hormone, right? wow. after 5 years of infertility you'd think I'd remember).

GL and I hope you are ok with however it all turns out. -Leighann

My doctors told me there is no such things as a false positive only a false negative. Good luck and keep us updated!!

I think it is pretty rare to have a false positive - I wonder if you are JUST pregnant and the amount of hormone kicked off positive on the first one, but you didn't have enough of the hormone in your urine to make the second one positive.

    Exciting!

(Ok, well, if it was me, I'm not sure I'd be excited - but you sound like you could be excited, if you ever get an answer to what this is!)

Test again the morning with first morning urine - definitely good advice. Also, the First Resonse pg test is supposed to be sensitive.

I had one that looked like that where the positive line was faint I did it in the evening I could not wait till morning, and it did not show up right away it took a minute or two, guess what about 6 months later 2 babies came into my life. They do get that way I have heard if they sit for awhile though. But I would test again with a more sensitive test.

Really gross story - but true. I wondered if I was pregnant and I peed in a cup and only had a cheapo test - it was negative. I put the pee up high in the cabinet and later in the day got a first response test and tested again - it was positive. (SAME PEE!) Little did I know it was twins!

My friend had many(!!) mixed results before she found out she was pregnant with her 3rd! I would assume you are pregnant with that positive.

It could be an evap line... but like everyone said, there's no such thing as a "true" false positve. The answer: test again! :D

It looks to me like there are 2 positive tests there. the blue one has 2 lines. One is dark and the second is very light. I would take a third test!

I know what you mean! I had to take a HPT last month because I was so late. I had my tubes tied and though "heck no!" the whole time. We absolutely, positively KNOW that we don't want anymore babies. But, I have to admit that DH and I were both more than a little sad when they both came up negative. There's no way I've second guess my decision to tie my tubes. But we always agreed that if I got pregnant anyway then it HAD to be meant to be. I was just a little let down that it wasn't "meant to be". Crazy, isn't it?! However, within 24 hours, I was no longer disappointed!! :D

I'm with everyone else. I'd take a 3rd test just to be sure. I hope you get the result you want...whatever that is. :)

I would take another test. The second one looks like the line is a little far over, but it also doesn't look like any brands I'm familiar with. Is the line in the correct spot? If not, it is a faulty test.

I read a lot of posts that said there is no such thing as a false positive, but there is. It is just far more uncommon than a false negative. Before I got pregnant with the twins I got a false positive reading with one of the digital tests. They are just as accurate as the others, so it wasn't because it was digital. No, it wasn't a miscarriage. No, I hadn't read it wrong. It was just a false positive... and it SUCKED. We were impatient and hadn't waited like our doctor had told us to, to get the test done in his office. We took another to verify at home, and the one at his office, and the second and third tests confirmed the first was wrong. I was sure it couldn't be a false positive, like the other posts I thought it couldn't happen, but yep, it can. (yes, I had been on medication that could cause a positive test, but I took a seperate test a few days before to see if it was out of my system, and it was)

I looked at the picture, and it looks positive to me. Maybe the one test was just more sensitive than the other?

Good luck, and please let us know.
