[SIZE=18pt]My doc said there is a possibility that my cervix may be softening. He suggested and put in a pessary. Never heard of it on any of these forums. Apparently it helps support the uterus so it's not putting a lot of weight on the cervix.
It's mainly used for women who are having pelvic organ or uterine prolapse.

He calls himself old school and would rather be one step ahead of anything that may go wrong. He said either this or bedrest. I love my OB and have a lot of trust in him but it's hard to make an educated decision when your feet are up in stirrups.

Anyone heard of this? I did some on-line checking and didn't find anything to get me concerned. Anyone have stories?

    Oh, I'm 29 weeks.

I did some searching on it when I thought my uterus was stuck under my pelvic bone.. LOL and read that they use this to support the uterus. Looks pretty painless and if this is all it takes to keep off bedrest I might give it a shot.

I didnt read anything horrible about them in my searching.

    Good Luck!

I had a pessary during my pregnancy. They're totally painless. It's kind of a funny looking piece of rubber (I think). I never had any trouble with it. I had trouble with a shortening cervix. I don't think I got the pessary until about 30 weeks. Maybe a little earlier. The girls were born at 32 weeks. If you have any specific questions, please PM me.
