Friday we had our 2 mth chk-up, twins are actually 3 mths old...running behind it seems. Well at the appt my ped tells me that my little boy is only in the 15th percentile for hgt & wght. He was the littler of the two. My little chunky butt (girl) is in the 50th percentile & moving fast. The ped said that he would eventually catch up...For some reason I just feel so bad for him. It breaks my heart cause he looks like the little rut. Asked about them developmentally and the ped said as long as we spend time with them talking, playing & cuddling that they should be fine...he called them 'late early babies'..late for twins but early for full term & said not to worry but I just keep wondering if they are/will be alright. I know from reading other posts it could be worse & feel alittle guilty for even voicing the concern. thanks everyone!!!

:hug99: There is always something to worry about when you are a mom!! I am sure that your babies are fine, and you are doing a great job giving them love and attention, and that's all they need right now! I bet your little boy will catch up with his sis before you know it!!

All my kids are big, top percentiles ... I worry about them being too big ... one baby is 95% then another has to be 5% ... Don't worry. My oldest was born 9 days late, but was still a late crawler (10 1/2 month) and fairly late walker (almost 15 months), so that doesn't necessarily mean something. Just keep doing what you're doing and they're both going to be just fine!

Like everyone else has said there is nothing to worry about. I was happy when Trevor made it to the 15th%, poor Emilie is not even on the charts yet, but I (and ped) are not worried as she actually eats more than her brother and is all over the place, happy and healthy, that is my main concern. She just has a small frame. As long as she keeps with her own growth no cause for concern. I'm sure your son will catch up to DD. Trevor used to only be 1.5 lbs. bigger than Emilie, but he's been a consistent 3 lbs. bigger for about 6 months now. I think it's just the difference between boys and girls, so he may get there.

But no need to worry, I know it's easier said than done though. :) :hug99:

I agree, doesn't sound like there is anything to worry about. But then again, that's what us moms do. My babies have yet to get out of the 2nd percentile - so 15th sounds huge to me ;) One thing to keep in mind with percentiles, they are good for keeping an eye on the growth curve of that child, but IMO don't mean much in comparison to other children.

Our girls were the same way. They are very different in height and weight. Even now - I feel like I have twins that are two months apart in age - Ellie acts like she is 8 months and Allie acts like she is six months. Those "near term" babies are a breed of their own (near term was what our MD calls them) Don't feel guilty about voicing your concerns! That is what we are here for!

Mine were always in the 25th or 50th... but now they are CHUNKS!!

(I have a sticky at the top of the forum, feeding guide and growth milestones, if you check it out, it gives detailed info on what to expect at every well baby visit.)

percentiles are not important, it's they're growth curves that count. As long as they are growing at a steady rate, they are fine! My smaller twin began off the charts she was so small, and now has been consistently in the 10th percentile. My "bigger" twin has consistently been in the 25th-30th percentiles... They are completely healthy, and growing at a steady rate. THAT is what's important!
