People sometimes annoy me

I know this had been discussed many times, but I just wanted to vent. My husband and I were at dinner the other night, and a trio of women walk up to us to look at our boys (at this point, we're used to it). One woman says, "I saw you walk in and thought Oh, Poor People". This annoyed me, so I politely replied, "No, not really."

I just wish people would understand, that saying things like that is the equivalent of walking up to somebody and saying, "Wow, I'm sure glad I don't have to live with your face."

Maybe I'm wrong, but ugh.

 

Oh yeah, comments like that seriously bug me :grr:

 

I don’t think you sound rude at all. (I would have said something that sounded very rude)
People saying things like that really can be aggravating. I’m sure most people who say these things don’t think they are being annoying, but then again I’m also sure that most people don’t think before they say things.

 

I always hated those comments the most! People just don't think before they speak sometimes!

 

I probably would have splashed my drink in her face, but that's just me. lol

 

Why would you be poor? You afford to go out to dinner and you have 2 wonderful babies. And in the end it's your business. People just don't know when to bite their tongues and shut up.

Rude, rude, rude. Not you - her. Why someone would think that just because you were blessed with twins you warrant pity, is beyond me. That said, I've gotten the same type of comments. Think, people, before you speak!

 

You aren't rude, those people were. I am really sick and tired of feeling like a sideshow when I take the girls anywhere. If our family goes out together it's even worse. Today at Trader Joe's a elderly woman said "oh how cute" and we started to talk and then she asked if I had other kids, when I told her I did and their ages she straight out asked, "were the twins an accident?" I said no, but had she not been an elderly lady I probably would have been rude to her. I have a friend who has 18 year old identical twins and she said she still gets rude questions....sorry you had to deal with that at dinner.

 

Sometimes people just don't know what's appropriate and what's not. So annoying, sorry you had to listen to that.

 

Ugh. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.. I'd have been snarky right back.

I had some woman come up to us in the grocery store and tell us "I feel so bad for you." I said "Why?" she goes "Because you have twins!" I said, "well i feel bad for you because you don't."

She got huffy. Oh well.

 

I want to reply, but I have nothing nice to say, that is, everything I think of is a bad word, so Ill leave it at that. Sorry she was rude.
