So, DH and I had our weekly intimate time last night, and immediately following, I went to the bathroom and discovered that I was profusely bleeding! I have a short history of bleeding following intercourse this pregnancy but nothing like last night... It scared us both enough to rush me to the ER!
Of course they asked me to estimate how much blood I passed.. well, how the heck do you measure something when you are sitting over the toilet?!?! <_< I was like, "I don't know.. a vile or two of blood....???" Honestly, all I know is that was SCARY. I was monitored for over an hour and the baby was active and heart rate ranged from 145-170 depending on whether or not he was moving around. They said that he looked great. They told me I am not dialating or contracting (although the pelvic exam caused some contractions to pick up on the monitor)... I have been having strange pains here and there today but I wonder if that is mainly because I am paying that much closer attention?? Probably.

At any rate, I have a follow-up appt with my OB tomorrow morning, and chances are pretty good that I will be put on pelvic rest indefinitely... I didn't have this problem at all with my twins so I am just shocked that it is going on now. Anyone else ever been put on pelvic rest? Looks like we're going to have to get creative in the intimacy dept.

BTW - today is my birthday! At least I am spending it home and not in the hospital all worried like I was last night!

So sorry you went through that - it must have been scary!
All I can say is being put on pelvic rest is a small price to pay to keep those little ones snug where they should be. Be creative! ;)
    Good luck!

Pelvic rest sucks...I was on it for 20 weeks on with the twins (if you mean not being able to DTD by "pelvic rest"), but it's worth it for a healthy baby! Glad it was nothing too serious

It totally sucks! I've been on pelvic rest since we had our IUI, 10 weeks ago and have the remainder of the pregnancy to go. I feel you! Creativity is a must.

If it makes you feel any better I wish the doctor would put me on pelvic rest. ;)

    HA HA HA!!! :rotflmbo:
You know, I am not all that bothered by it right now - I prefer to not be worried when I'm in bed with my hubby... I said to my DH, "well, just imagine how awesome the sex is going to be after the baby is born!" After that long of a wait, our desire for each other should be through the roof - and having a baby in the house never stopped us before

Thanks for your comment - it brought a smile to my face.

ok - im on pelvic rest, and DH is not coming near me. He is so scared he will do something to trigger inside. I on the other hand, want him badly. Now, im told after next tuesday when I get my cerclage, I cant even be "creative". YIKES> Im really looking forward to November

now that stinks! But what can you do right??? :search: I can't say I don't want some form of intimacy right now because I do.. I even have erotic dreams which I didn't have first pregnancy with the girls... :girl_devil: But, I am willing to do (or stop doing ) anything to be sure the baby is safe.. I'm sure you are too as tough as that is to accept.

For me the pelvic rest is mostly to prevent infection because bleeding can lead to other problems. Thankfully I am not dialating or even contracting following those episodes, so we can at least stick to being creative.

I was on pelvic rest with David and then again with the twins. I loved it because I needed the sleep. :p

:birthday: I'm glad everything was ok. :D
