we're having an awful time sleeping day and night, and i called our pedi for advice today...

unfotunately, he was less than helpful. He kept giving me suggestions that I know in my heart won't work for us because of the two of them. but unless you've had twins, you can't truly understand.

I wish I could find a pedi who has twins... should i just call around to different offices and ask the front desk if any of the MD's have twins?

I think that would be a good idea. Or maybe you could contact your local Mother of Twins club & see if anyone has a recommendation for a good doctor? My ped has twins & it makes things so much easier because he knows exactly what I'm going through. And he knows that what works for singletons doesn't always work for twins.

Yes, I think that would be a good idea! Or like the previous poster said, ask some twin moms in your area where they go. I have the same problem with my pedi giving advice that I know won't work b/c I'm home all day. One time she told me to "enjoy them in the evenings, let them stay up until 8 or 9"....I was like "are you kidding me?! I've been home with them all day, by the end of the day there is no fun time, it's all business, we're all exhausted!"

As far as sleeping advice goes, go ahead and ask here and we'll help you out as best we can!

As far as pediatrician advice goes, if you are unhappy with him, definitely ask around for some suggestions.

Good luck with both the sleeping and dr. search! :hug99:

We had a recommendation from a twin mom for a pedi that has twins and I love that. It's so nice that he actually gets it. It's worth a try if you're unhappy with your pedi anyway to find one that has twins.

I'll ask around I guess. It sucks b/c I like him from a medical standpoint but he just doesn't get it when it comes to schedules/feedings/sleep...

*Hugs* It does suck not to be understood all the time b/c of the different needs when there is more than one.

I go to my pedi for medical things but I find that they honestly don't have time or that much good advice regarding things like sleeping/feeding/schedules. I rely on that information from books, twinstuff and other twin moms.

I think this is a good idea. I don't think you have to have twins to understand. I think if a Ped has a lot of patients with twins and listens to them, they can be even more helpful than one who may only have their own expereince to draw from.
