As some of you know I have went through some major issues with my PED.

I finally did a ton of research and found someone about 45 minutes away that Kasier will cover and she comes highly recommended. I actually made an appointment to take the kids there for their 9 month check-up.

Yesterday the head of PEdiatrics (Kaiser)for the area called me and apologized about 600 times for what happened with the old PED. She has offered to take my kids on as their PED although she does not often see patients. She transferred here from CA to get the center here in order. She was highly recommended in CA.

I am not sure if I should drive 45 minutes and rid myself of the Kaiser Center or if I should see this PED who called me. I am thinking she will give me very good care as she knows what I went through and she wouldnt want to mess up. (she is about 10 minutes away and I would not have the $10 co-pay I would at the other place.

I see lots of reasons to make yet another change and go see her, but I am so unsure of my decisions at this point.

I want my kids to have great care.

Oh and the funny thing is her first name is Pupi pronouced Poopy! :)

    Tammy,

That's a tough decision... but I think I'd go with the lady who called you. How can you pass up a doctor named Poopy? Think of the fun your kids will have in the years to come. But seriously, you would probably get great care because this doctor personally called and wants to help. If she's in charge of the center she'll know all the best specialists to refer you to when needed. And 10 minutes away versus 45 in Northern Virginia is a big deal. The first time you have to take your kids in while they're throwing up or have a fever, you'll be glad your ped is so close, rather than a long drive away. My two cents...

That is how my DH feels as well. I think my hesitation is that I will run into that other AWFUL PED while I am there!

I think I would take a chance on the ped closer to home. I would, however, ask about availability after hours, emergency stuff before saying yes. If she is the head of the department, does that mean she keeps regular office hours, etc. And, if she isn't available, does that mean you have to see the bad ped? The fact that she called you says a lot, so I think she would do a great job. Also, how can you go wrong with a name like Poopy???

This woman even offered to make house calls when they are sick FREE of charge. She said she is there every day and would always make time to see me. After office hours I would have to see the regular urgent care PEDS (Who have always been great).

I still think her name is funny though!

Yeah, but if you do... you can just smirk and keep moving. And if she asks what you're doing there just tell her you're seeing the head of the department. That will make her think!
