So as some of you know my kiddos have been pretty sick with a stomach bug. Poor Libby has to have an IV and all. Anyways until this morning, they have been living on pedialyte since Monday. 6 days of that stuff.

Anyways they refused the unflavored stuff so I bought them the grape and they loved it. They drank it so well and I think pedialyte got us through this with minimal complications.

However, I want to say Pedialyte is terrible. The manufacturers should be shot for using all that food coloring. It stains everything and I can only imagine what my kids insides look like. Uggggggg!

I did find a recipe for making my own though and from now until forever, that is what I intend to do.

I am not an over the top mom who will never give her kids things like popsicles and such, but I really think a product designed for sick babies really doesnt need so much crap in it.

Thanks for listening to my vent!

I hear ya! I've often wondered if diluted Gatorade would be the same thing -- I know they suggested that when my DD had rotavirus at 15 months, but I'm not sure for younger babies.

We used the Gerber version of Pedialyte before DS's surgeries, and yeah, it's awful -- I don't know why it needs to be so RED. He looked at me like I was crazy, and didn't touch it.

Hope your munchkins are better soon!

I always wondered why they put food coloring in it. Its for babies and kids who are sick... probably with a stomach problem. Do I really want purple puke all over everything?! Um, no. I bought the apple kind when my girls were sick and refusing their bottles. GL.. I hope your kiddos are better soon!!!

I didnt read all responses but I wanted to add.... We have also had the horrible stomach flu here too and i thought we may end up in the hospital with 3 outta the 5 of my kiddos... our pedi told us that for infants Half Gatorade/ Half water is JUST AS GOOD AS PEDIALYTE!! And more than half the cost!! You can get clear gatorade too I think. HTH!
