So my little ones are almost 10 months haven't been sick yet (most likely due to the fact that they have never been in daycare). And now that beautiful fall is rolling around I am becoming super paranoid.

For example, last night my mom came home and was holding Presley and goes "man, I think I'm getting sick, I hope I don't get anyone else sick" and I was like "alright than, put my kid down, thanks!" and she backtracked and said that it was just allergies and when I pointed out what she had said previously she called me a smart@ss.

Really, people, if you are sick, stay away, far away.

I take it back- I am not super paranoid. I'm just a mom who doesn't want their kids to get sick....

I just wanted to share my scaredom. Sweet, huh?

My girls are about to turn 1 and the most they've had is sniffles. They've never had a fever, never had an ear infection, never thrown up - nothing. (knocking on wood right now!)

I'm not too paranoid about them getting sick though - they are going to catch something sooner or later, that's just a part of life.

My girls have had a fever not long ago and now this cold for over 3 weeks now. Not fun but as their pedi said it's also not a bad thing to have this happen from time to time because it builds up their immune system. They are in daycare and that happens. A friend of mine stayed home with her kid and her kid was never sick but once he started kindergarten he was sick ALL of the time.

The older mine get, the more I'm okay with germs. I mean, I don't want you coming up and slobbering on my child while you have snot running down your face but colds/germs do happen. Of course, the younger they are the more paranoid I was. Of course, mine are in daycare, I know they're gonna get sick. I'm just hoping to minimize baby's exposure this winter.

Your right you’re not paranoid… just the prospect of a sick kid much less TWO sucks… my older DS didn’t get his first clod until we started Gymboree at 10m… BUT having him at home w/ the twins he brought home a cold (no fevor) the first week of school, and the twins got it (so did i)… what are gonna do…

I feel the same way! I'm about to start school in january and that means my kids get to go to daycare =(
I'm nervous about it because my DS got sick when he was in daycare...ugh! I don't want to go through it again

Remember, you're the parent, it's your decision..!

The first time I took my girls out, last year to see the easter bunny, they got the flu and then I went back to sheltering them. Since then they have had 2 ear infections each, both after having them around people.
I was totally paranoid about germs! But now I go to the gym 4-5x a week and put them in daycare, they have had a few cases of the sniffles but I think exposing them is probably the best way to build up their immunities.

Mine just had their first bad cold at 7.5months, it was awful, poor things were hacking, coughing, sniffling, couldn't breathe at night (but this was courtesy of daddy brining it home to them!). I think I don't mind them getting colds, but I do mind if it affects their sleep and as a result affects my sleep! So, for us we have only had one cold, no flus, ear infections etc.
But I am starting to get the babies out more - moms groups, around other kids etc. But I am still paranoid and try to limit sharing of soothers, cups etc - if I can catch them quick enough.

And, anyone that comes over and is sick is not getting anywhere near the babies!! I think that is just prudent not overprotective!

I have been debating putting my babies in a daycare a few mornnings a week when they turn one, but not sure I want to deal with the sickness that comes along with it!

Rule at our house you wash your hands, alot and sanitize them. Then you might get to play with the babies. Since they had such a tough start with the sepsis and RSV and being on life support due to the RSV I feel they can handel the colds. I got 7 kids so they will get sick. But you are not paranoid just cautious. I have a sign on the door that says if you are sick or feel like you are comming down with something, do not come inside. Are they going to get the flu shot? The docs offices here dont have the pedi shots yet, but our kids get it every year. Good luck!

I hated people touching them so much i had a sign that said "wash your hands before touching mine" I bought it online. I took it down when they got older but I still hate strangers touching them. I have 2 sick right now and it isnt' fun to deal with......

My boys have had like 5 colds already. I have two older kids in school. I tried sooo hard to keep it away from the babies but they got it anyways so I've pretty much given up.
