The past 2 nights and mornings I have woke up frequently to numbness in my hands. During the day I have random tingling and my fingers hurt...they are swollen and tender to the touch. Is this a problem anyone else has had or having? I know my pregnancy book says you can have carpel tunnel like symptoms...I wonder if this is what it is?? I will ask my doc Tues. when I go. Just thought I would seek some advice from you guys also!

Carpal tunnel is likely. I get tendonitis in my hands, and have had issues with the tendon in my thumb since my last pregnancy, two years ago. I have been feeling more joint pain now that I am pregnant again too. Worth telling your doc about though. But, both are very common in pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Sounds like carpal tunnel. You can talk to your doctor and she might recommend you wear braces for it.

Yes, that carpal tunnel. I had it real bad during my last pregnancy. I went to Walmart and bought two braces to wear while I sleep. This helped me be able to make it through the night. I would suggest you buy them for yourself. It goes away a few weeks after the babies are born and the swelling goes down.

Me, me, me, me!! I actually posted about this not too long ago. Suffering horribly from this, too, and did speak to my OB. It is carpal tunnel but I also have a pinched nerve somewhere that is causing my whole left side to do the same on top of that! Not fun, but it is part of pregnancy. My OB said as long as when it happens I dont have any hot spots on my arm/hand and no red spots, then I am good. Otherwise to go straight to the ER and it can be a blood clot.

Definitely make mention of this to your OB. Mine made a note of it in my file.

p.s. A heating pad helps! I have one close by and just rest my arm/hand on it and it gives some relief.

I actually had my entire right arm/hand go numb for the last month of pregnancy. I am now having partial numbness in both of my hands. Thankfully it does not hurt.

My OB said it was carpal tunnel. To me, that was the worst pain ever. I would have been fine with the pregnancy if it was not for that.

I am sorry that you are having this....

Yep! I would wake up numb from my elbow down. If it gets too bad, your OB can get you a splint to wear at night. There's not much else they can do while your pregnant. My hands would be so swollen and ache. I would rub lotion on them every time I got up to use the bathroom at night.

    Hang in there!

I had a repeat of everything last night...I can't even sleep! Hopefully I will not have to deal with it much longer...almost 36 weeks!

Thanks for all the info...atleast I know it is somewhat common!

Definitely got that when I was pregnant with the twins and it went away right after, nothing to worry about ;)

I had it in the middle of the pregnancy and then it went away. I did some exercises for carpel tunnel and they went away. I also will sometimes feel some tingling in my hands, but no numbness, and I just elevate them in the middle of the night and they never get to be numb.
