We went to the grocery store today to get some items we needed. As usual it turns into a longer and more expensive trip than we planned on. Toward the end of our trip, I got a long, crampy, pain at the top of my stomach. I didn't mention it, but it did make me stop walking for a minute. The rest of the time I had some cramping and a little bit of stomach hardening. It was better by the time we checked out. I still had some hardening and a really bad pain in my back. I have been really irritable and tired the last few days and feeling kind of sick, so I don't know if I was just tired or what but this made me worry. The babies haven't moved quite as much as they have been the last week or so. Right now my stomach is a little firm but not hard and my back hurts (but I guess this is just part of the deal).

Does anyone else get a pain in the top of their stomach, it seems like it is just a muscle, but it really burns and kind of pinches, it gets really uncomfortable. It has been a little worse since we got back from my moms after Christmas.

Sorry to complain so much but these things make me nervous.

I also had a dream the other night that I had b/g twins. They were big and healthy. Hopefully this is an indicator of the future.

    Thanks guys,

    Jen

I had similar thing happen at Target… my son had like $80 in g.c. to spend (and for some reason HAD to spend it all in one trip)… and I just kept getting more and more uncomfortable and I ended up so grumpy the rest of the day…
I had a funny dream last night that the twins were born, BUT one was identical to my older son and the other was opposite with light skin, blond hair and big nose (big noses run in DH family... I had some of my DH family joke and say to me when I was first pregnant… aren’t you scared to deliver one of those Mauro noses…)… and this one was small… but in my dream no one wanted to hold the one that was big and health and looked like my son… they all just wanted to care for the little one…
But if you’re concerned about the pain… call your OB that’s their job… I don’t even hesitate to ask about every ach and pain…peace of mind is worth ALOT

    Hope you feel better soon

Dreams are funny sometimes. Thank you, it helps knowing others experiences especially from someone who is due around the same time.

Not to scare you but you should take painful tightening and back aches seriously. If you lay down on your left side and drink lots of water/orange juice and you still feel crampy or have hardening of the belly, do call your Dr or go to L&D. Yes, it is normal for your back to hurt some while pregnant, and some daily contractions are normal, especially with twins. However, if you are crampy and your back hurts and your belly is getting tight, it could be labor. I know how it feels not to want to over-react but it's better to over-react than the alternative. I pray it's nothing more than a little too much time shopping!

As for the babies moving less, drink some OJ or even a small soft drink and see if that gets them going. As you get farther along, the little quick movements are less often and the larger, sweeping or rolling movements are what you will feel most. Good luck!

I feel for you and have experienced the same pain as you describe on my right side. My doctors actually had me checked out to see if I was passing gall stones, but there were none. In the end, my one doctor decided that I am just a short person and may end up feeling pain until they move around. Ironically, that was a month ago and that pain has pretty much gone away. My ribs on the left side must be stretching however, because they have been really sore this week. I'm 27 weeks along with my first pregnancy (twins) and am just realizing that this is just the way a twin pregnancy will feel for a first timer. I also think it is because they are sitting more in my back than in the front.

I know the best thing that helped me to lessen the right side pain was to lay down on my left side and cool it on the activity. After that ordeal (ultrasound to look for gall stones and no lessening of the pain) in December, I actually had my doctor put me on modified work schedule, so I am working half days. The two weeks before winter break (I am a teacher), I went home at 11:30am and laid down for at least an hour and it made a WORLD of difference to get that rest in the middle of the day. I don't know how your work schedule is constructed, but taking that break half way through the day might really help the pain you are experiencing.

Good luck and I hope it goes away, like it did for me.

Thank you, I never thought of gall stones, one of my friends had them every time she was pregnant. I am currently not working, so I am trying not to do too much, I do some house work or unpacking of some of the small stuff that we have left. Today I actually called the dr. because I was still having some cramping and tightening, they just said to drink water and lay low. It helps as long as I don't need to get up. I don't know if it is normal or not, but they didn't seem too concerned. Thank you for the advice, I do need to rest more, I don't actually rest when I take a break, I am a student so I am constantly doing something whether I am up or not. Hopefully I will be as lucky as you and it will go away soon.
