Yesterday I had my second steroid shot. I felt really dizzy after and just wanted to lay down when I got home. I was feeling ok all night. The when I went go to bed around 11pm I could not lay on either side more my back. my whole lower back in still in so much pain. I don't think I slept all night. I finally passesd out aroung 6:30 till 9am

Is this pain normal??? and another ? I read on another thread something about having the babies 24 hours after your second shot?? Maybe im understanding wrong could someone explain this to me. My Dr is kinda a jerk and dosnt explain stuff well... should I be worried about going into labor soon? or will the effects of the shots wear off before I have them if I dont have them within 24 hours?? Im sorry im so confused and I have been feeling like they may come soon so im scared. I've been "nesting" like crazy and on no sleep too. The first thing I did today when I woke up was cleaned my fridge??? with my sore sore back. not a good idea but I can't help my self... dont worry my dear daddy came and stoped me! and he finished it [IMG] I love my daddy!!!

thanks for all your help everyone

I didnt have pain or dizzyness after my steriod injections and I had them with 2 pregnancies so I have no idea if that is normal or not. The shots start to mature your babies lungs right away in case you deliver. It wont wear off by making the lungs go back it just wont keep maturing them over time. They help though, they really really do. I had my last shot 24 hours before I delivered (no one knew I would deliver that soon with my son) and though he was a 27 weeker he was only vented off and on for 3 days which was awesome. My girls I had the shots at 24 weeks, didnt deliver until 32 and their lungs were completely mature.

I have not had steroid shots, but my OB did say she would admit me for 24 hours or more if I did, because they can cause contractions, etc, so maybe that would explain the back pain?

I would highly recommend you take it easy and keep your feet up as much as you possibly can. Bedrest is an amazingly effective tool. The chores can wait!

Go ahead and call your OB though just to be safe!

I didn't have any pain but wanted to clarify about the 24 hours. I was told the goal is to keep the babies in for at least 24 hours after the second shot in order for them to receive the most benefit from them (I kept them in for 7 weeks lol but I had my doc and staff a little freaked out that I was going to deliver which is why we set our goal as the 24 hours after second shot). My understanding is they help to mature the lungs to the equivalent of 34 weeks gestation.
