We're starting to buy furniture and think about registering.. I'm torn as to what we should do for beside sleeping before the babies move to their crib...

someone suggested a pack-n-play at bedside b/c it would be good to have in the long run. A bassinet doesn't really seem to serve much purpose after those first couple of weeks. i've seen a twin pack-n-play with two seperate area's for baby's, but i want them sleeping right next to eachother right?

also, what exactly is a co-sleeper and would that be better than the pack-n-play? there is no room in our bedroom for the crib, so that option is out. what do you think works best?

I got both but could have used just the pack and play especially since nursing did not work for me. I think the only difference is that the cosleeper is level with your bed mattress (I think but check that out because I dont really remember.). My boys ended up sleeping in their car seats anyways so the cosleeper was a waste. I think it would be good if you were nursing.

All my friends who have singletons told me to get a pack n play. Some on here liked the pack n play (and the twin PnP) but others said go for the cosleeper. So, I went to the store to check them both out. The PnP has a lighter weight maximum for the bassinet area. I think the larger PnP was 14 pounds, while the full cosleeper was 23 pounds. I didn't want the twin PnP because it has separate bassinets, and I want them to sleep together in the early days. I was worried about not having a play yard, but the cosleeper does change into one. And it is pretty easy - we tried it. Also, the cosleepr was a LOT sturdier, so we decided to register for the cosleeper.

I don't have the twin PNP but I have a regular one and the original cosleeper. Cosleeper wins hands down for functionality. It does everything the PNP does but also has the higher weight limit and can attach to the bed with the drop side. I liked having both, though, because I used the PNP in the living room for a quick spot to put one while I had my hands full with the other. When they got bigger, we needed two portable beds when we went places.

I'm just going to highlight the PP's points about the weight limit. You will come up on that bassinet weight limit VERY quickly in the PNPs. The highest weight limit bassinet/PNP type bed out there right now is the co-sleeper. I WISH I had known about it with the girls. I bought a co-sleeper for this baby though! He may be in our room up to 5 or 6mos so I wanted to be sure whatever bed we chose would accommodate it.

Hi there, this is my first post......my baby shower is November 11th and need to register for either the pnp or the cosleeper. Thank goodness you all posted this topic! So here goes my question: is there a twin sized co-sleeper or is it just one regular product that is big enough to hold both newborns for a short while until I move them into their cribs at night?

I have two pnp's already that friends gave to us but was planning on having my b/g twins sleep together. So maybe the cosleeper would be good for our bedroom and put a pnp elsewhere in the house for convenience. Any suggestions would be helpful! :) My c-section is January 14th, but my high risk ob laughs and says I wont make it past Christmas. So time is of the essence to get this house in order. Thanks for listening! -jillian

Ditto to this entire post! Even if you don't nurse I would think the co-sleeper would come in handy.

They don't have a "twin" co-sleeper, so you have to get the full size one. Here is a link

I had really researched a co-sleeper, but ended up getting a pack-n-play. We ended up never placing the babies in our room and placed the pack-n-play in the living room. To this day we still use the pack-n-play because it has a little changing table of sorts that can be placed on it and comes in very handy. I am so glad that I did not purchase the co-sleeper because we would have never gotten our money's worth out of it.
