I am currently 24 weeks pregnant with twin boys and am trying to decide which pack 'n' play to purchase. I am planning to use it as a co-sleeper in our bedroom until we transition them to their nursery. Would it be helpful to get a pack n play with the changing station on top? Or is it just something that will be in the way if we are trying to co-sleep both of them in one pack n play? I just thought it might save us the space of having a changing station in our bedroom as well.

Any advice/opinions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Randi

We used a PNP with the changing table in our living room for about 3 months. It helped keep things organized downstairs. Now we use it when we need another place for the babies to sleep.

We used the co-sleeper from Arms Reach up to 6 mosoriginal cosleeper. It holds up to 30 lbs as a co-sleeper bassinet. It's harder than all heck to take down without a little jiggling, but it was so nice to have it right next to the bed. We're planning on using it at the high level as a diaper change station in the new house. We got the crib up tonight, as the boys are just too long for the cosleeper. However, if you have a tall bed, you need to get the adjustable legs to bring it up to bed height. We have a Sleep Number bed, which is very tall. (Getting the legs adjustments also makes it easier on your back to do the diaper changes. I'm not too sure all of the others offer that.)

I think it depends on why/how you're using it. We got two of the smallest pnp's (without changing table) since our room is small and I wanted them each to have one next to the bed - as I was afraid at first to put them to sleep together. Almost 3 mos later, they're still in one together by the bed, with one in the living room. But their combined weight is reaching the limit, so it'll be time to put them each in one by the bed as originally planned.
Does that make sense? I figured that once they outgrow the bassinet part, they can stay in the bottom part for a long time; at least until they're sleeping through the night and THEN I'll figure out the crib situation.

I thought the cosleeper looked a bit cumbersome for my bedroom. With the pnp by the bed, I just have to sit up and reach in. I've pushed it all the way next to the bed.

I, too, use the Arms Reach co-sleeper in the bedroom. It has been great but they are getting too big for it now so they are moving on to the crib. I have a pack & play downstairs in the kitchen / family room with the changer and I have used it tons. During the day, that is where they are always changed. Plus, when they were smaller, they really seemed to like being in the changer more than on the mattress. Might get in the way during the night, though. I would get one that has the changer, you can always take it off while you are using it by the bed, but have it for later. [IMG]

For a slightly different perspective, we never used a formal changing table or station of any kind. Our boys all slept in the PnP in our room until they moved into their cribs and it worked great. The twins even lasted a bit longer than the weight limit in the bassinet part. When we change(d) all our babies, we just put down and towel, the changing pad and changed them on the bed or the floor. It always worked well for us not to use the changing station and change them where ever we may be. Congratulations on your twins!

We had the regular Pack & Play; no changing table or any gadget on it at all. We only use it for special times when we are sleeping away from home in which circumstances we can adjust and change the babies on what ever surface is available.

With our first daughter, our house was on levels, as oposed to now, so I did use the pack & play downstairs and I guess having a changing table on it could have been handy.

    Have fun choosing [IMG]

The PnP was a great thing to have. I bought two and kept one in my bedroom and they both slept in it until they were ready for their cribs. The second one I took to my moms house so they would have somewhere to nap when we went over there. We have used them both many times on vacations or sleep overs. They fold down so small and are so light and portable. I highly recommend getting at least one. Congratulations on your babies!! Twins are tons of fun. [IMG]
