Is there any reason to switch pacifier sizes if the babies seem happy with the ones they are using? They started off with the purple Soothies in the NICU and then switched to the green ones when they were a little bigger. The NICU sent us home with a ton of the green ones and we are still using them. The use them less than they used to. Is there a specific reason to move to the next size up? I hate to spend the money on them if we don't need them. The girls are 5 months old...3 months adjusted.

    Thanks.

My boys don't take pacifiers, but I have a friend who's daughter is 13 mos & still using the 0-3 mo NAM pacifiers. They look ridiculously small, but she doesn't care, so why switch it? I'm no orthodontist, but I would think the smaller pacifiers would be better for them anyway?

Maybe someone will have better input, but I just wanted to let you know that I've seen older kiddos do just fine with smaller pacis.

We used the NUK brand and switched to MAM brand because of teething and drool at about 6 months. Staying with the smaller size may help you when you decide enough is enough and ditch the plugs.

My two use the same ones that they've used since birth.

I think the main difference is the sturdiness (not quite the word I'm looking for) of the actual nipple part, how thick and hard it is?

And if they like the green ones, don't change them. No reason to buy new ones IMO.

I purchased a few of the next age up soothies, and they seem REALLY hard! The size is no different, just the softness of the nipple - I say, if the babies like the green ones, keep with it!

Some brands get a little larger as they sizes increase. BUt I'm with the PP's - if it's working, why change?

I was wondering this too. I couldn't find any difference b/w the green and blue Soothies, so thanks for sharing that the blue ones are firmer! That explains why my DS doesn't like them :)

We still use the small nams as well but they love them so I will not go buy new ones too expensive!! They do look funny with them in their mouths here is Gracie

we try and see if they take to any other kinds, but yeah like you they are most comfortable with the smoothies. If they make them happy, than that makes momma happy :D

I bought the next size up soothies (pink) and my girls HATED them. I say don't waste your money, but I am no expert.

I was going to say the same. We had the green ones from the hospital forever and then I got some of the pink ones and they are really hard and they would not suck on them. Now my girls use the platex ortho pro ones and love them. They do use the pink ones to chew on so I guess not a total waste of money.

Ainsley used a 0-3 months Evenflo pacifier the whole time, until we gave them up at 23 months. It was the only one she would ever take.
