Have you tried putting a whole bunch in her bed? That's what I used to do with DS. Whenever he would wake up there was usually one within reach...he would find it, put it back in and go back to sleep (usually).

I do what the PP said with William. I dont remember how old he was though when he started putting it back in his mouth on his own.

I hate to say it, but we suffered through with the paci replacement all night until we eventually did CIO at 8 months and at that point they gave up the paci since when they spit it out they had to CIO for sleep. Once they learned to put themselves asleep (took 2 nights of CIO), they never missed the pacifier.

It was a tough decision but when I see 2 or 3 years olds walking around with pacifiers, I'm glad we got rid of them rather painlessly at an early age. My DD who really like her paci the most, learned quickly to suck her tongue for comfort to put herself back to sleep.

We ditched outs at 3 months when they wouldn't keep em in

we kept the pacis until 2yrs. I didn't want a toddler sucking a thumb... so I figured I could get rid of pacis later. that's really only the main reason i keep the pacis.

I did the paci clip to their PJs, don't know if that's safe to do still or not... I also tied one to the side of the crib with just a 4" ribbon, enough to keep it in the crib, but not to choke them... that worked well until my ds needed 2 pacis to fall asleep, one in his mouth and one in his hand... I had intended the one attached to the crib to be the backup when others fell out.

I guess the easier thing is to just put more pacis in the crib...

I would put multiple soothers in as well. If they're really dedicated to them, they'll learn how to get them in their mouth pretty quick! But if I could go back and do it again, I wouldn't go in multiple times a night to replace them. That was a terrible habit to get into and we just kicked it about 3 weeks ago with a lot of screaming. I would have rather had them learn to soothe themselves earlier.
