p17 shots anyone?

Well, since I had my singleton 2 years ago at 29 weeks due to premature rupture of membranes, my Peri gave me the option to do these shots once a week that has been helping women with a history of PTL extend their pregnancies. I think the study has been only done on single ton preg, but my doc said it wouldnt hurt

 

I take these every week and have since 16 weeks. I had my water break (for no reason wasnt dilated or anything) at 35 weeks with my daughter. I took these shots my last pregnancy and made it to 38 weeks when I went into labor. My Ob says that studies say it does not help in multiple pregnancy but we also decided it cant hurt either. I do know that as I approach my shot day I start getting more braxtons and as soon as I get my shot they die down completely for a few days so I feel like its doing something. My OB also believes they only work if you start them at 16-18 weeks and she prefers 16 weeks.

 

My next door neighbor took them with her last 2 babies. Her first 2 were born before 34 weeks. They worked really well for her, baby #3 was born at 39 weeks and baby #4 was born at 40 weeks (actually a few days late).

 

Sounds very encouraging!! THank you both for your experiences! Sounds like they must help... I have read somewhere that it is misleading for docs to tell mothers preg with twins that p17 is ineffective, when in fact, there has been no studies done on this group. It has only been studied on singleton pregnancies, so they cannot conclude that it would not work on twin pregnancies. Just food for thought...thanks again
