My son has picked up a new word...OWWW!!! I taught him this to tell me if he hurt himself...NOW he says it all the time...esp when hes mad, or doesnt want to do something...if hes having a fit...he yells OW OW OW!!! Or if I pick him up...OW OW OW!! UGH!! People in the stores must think I beat him up!! (Did I mention he uses his LOUD voice to yell this?)

How do I get it to stop!!??

When she was 2, when I was PG with the twins, I would take Annie to the mall with my sister and friend. When Annie would run off and I'd catch her (I wasn't very PG at the time) she'd yell out, "Don't take me, Mommy!" Not too amusing then, but funny now!

When my nephew was probably 3 yrs old, he had the idea that falling down and putting his hands over his head and saying, "Don't hurt me dadddy!" when my BIL would try to get him to hurry up, was funny while in public. We still don't know where or who he picked this up from!

You could try telling him he can only say that if it's bleeding. Otherwise, if he wants your attention, he should try saying your name in a "regular voice".

When my boys scream "Mama!" at me from 2 feet away, I say, "I can't understand you when you are yelling like that. Can you try again in a regular voice?"

or just wait until he moves out of the house, and then it's someone else's problem....
