Lately I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to get everything I need to get done. The boys are so active, and we are all over the place - I hardly have enough time to sleep, let alone to get to the computer and say Hi, every once in a while...

DH works really long hours all week, so it's just me w/the boys - I don't have any additional help - and I don't mind at all - it just seems like lately there is more to do and never enough time - I feel like there is so much tedious stuff to do (laundry, dishes, pick-up), that needs to be done just to get through our days, that I'm missing out on time w/the boys - please tell me this is just another phase we're going through, and soon I'll find a spare minute again :D ... I'm going through TS withdrawl

Oh lord, everytime I wish for more time to get everything done, I remember that there would just be more stuff to fill up that time...like a "spare" closet...does not exist.

When things get really overwhelming for me, I will make a list of must do's and cross them off as I do it that way I feel/see what I have gotten done. I usually will put fun things with the kids on the list too so I do not forget what s really important and if the only things that get crossed off are finger painting parties and learning how to pedal...well that's a day well spent and I can let the kids hang out in PJ's all the next day while I get them some clean clothes.

Good Luck, I tend to spend about 1/2 my days completely overwhelmed, and the other half just not caring and enjoying the smiles....

Gosh I hear you. I have a lot on my plate here too...no help...older inlaws living here...pg with my 3rd...etc.

My family cant come out here much, since I am far.

Most of my laundry gets done on weekends and DH helps big time with that. Everything else waits, and 9 out of 10 times I got to bed with a messy home. Its very frustrating, but I know this age does not last...and who cares?? It bothers me, yes, and I do the minimal things...but I wont do bathrooms, until a certain day (fridays), and floors on the weekends too. I sweep, and do dishes everyday, but thats usually after bed.

My DH works long hours too, and its hard on me...he just took a nother job in hopes of being closer to home and having regular hours again...

I hear you...loud and CLEAR!! :clapping:

Ditto dh works long hours so I can stay home with the kids.

My sanity saving advice is to have one place totally childproofed that the kids can be in for 5-10 minutes alone. I have our LR and hall to their room gated off for them to play. I can always HEAR them, but sometimes cannot see them from kitchen while cooking or basement run to throw in a quick load of laundry. And it is very good for them to get used to being alone w/out you. Not to say they will like it at first. but it really helps them become independent.

Hang in t here. It gets so much better as they get closer to 2! Sure I still have incidents where they get ahold of the entire box of tissue or wipes and dump them on the floor etc. But you know in the scheme of things, that is not huge deal to me anymore B)

Yep, I reckon we all have days like this, and it's certainly one of the things that gets me glued to Twinstuff in my rare moments of free time - I think EVERYONE reading your post would know EXACTLY how you feel (and if they have angelic perfect children who sleep 17 hours a day at two years of age and never fight or trash the living room, well, they're probably destined for appalling behaviour from their set of teenage partners in crime!).

If your husband is anything like mine, he's not going to click his tongue at you if all the work isn't done when he gets home. Maybe you could pick a couple of "chaos days" each week where you spend a few hours with your (absolutely gorgeous, I must say) little boys and blow a big raspberry at the housework? I need to do this myself! I have become quite obsessive about having a (reasonably) clean house this year, now that I'm home five working days per fortnight, and every now and then I have to stop, close my eyes, take five deep breaths and say, "No one except me notices the toilet is clean" (unless we're having visitors. That's a whole other issue!). Then, I go and build a Lego tower or read a story with the girls.

Like the PPs, I found that about 12-18 months of age was incredibly hard work, and after that, things did get a little easier.

    All the best -

    Tania
