My husband and I are leaving the boys from a Sunday 4pm until 10pm on a Wednesday with a good friend/sitter. We are going house hunting and will be out of state. Does anyone have any clue how much you would pay. She is a mother of 4 teenage boys including a set of twins and is absolutely wonderful. She will be staying at our house. TIA for any suggestions!!!

Hmmmm. That's a great question! I would offer what you can afford. $200-$300 ($100 for 24 hrs.?) Then see where she is comfortable. Or offer more and just HOPE she says it's too much! Let us know! It's an interesting question!

Wow, that is tough. I was going to say pay her the standard babysitting/nanny rate during the day and throw in an extra $20 for each night, but then I did the math. A nanny for twins in my area makes at least $12/hour, and at 10 - 12 hours of "day" work, you'd be looking at 140 per day. 3.5 days... yikes! I can't imagine you planned to pay her $500. So I guess I'd agree with maybe $300? Will she be foregoing other employment to help out? If yes, maybe ask how much she'd make at her other job and give her that?

in my area, nannies make $20 per hour on average for twins.

it depends on so many things: where you live / cost of living, ages of kids, do your children sleep through the night?

i've considered paying a nanny to work overnight so we could get away, but we simply can't afford it here. maybe if we didn't live in calif.

Yes, they go to bed at 7 and wake between 6-7am with 1 nap. She is a SAHM. I am scheduling my gym for her for 2 mornings so she will have a break. My boys are 18 months old.

I'd ask her. If you think she low-balls her price, then I'd pay her that but also include something like a gc to a spa.

I would do $100 per day. So probably $300 for the entire timeframe.
