overfeeding?

My LOs will be two months old on Wednesday. They are about 10 1/2 pounds. They eat 5-6 ozs every 3-5 hours-about 30-36 ozs. each day. We do a feeding around 9-10 at night and they sometimes go to 2 or 3 in the morning. Sometimes they wake at 7, sometimes 6, yesterday was 5:30. They wake hungry and almost always drain the bottle!
I am concerned that I am overfeeding them as we're still doing 6-7 feedings a day, they are not stretching out any further than 5 hours (at night) Also, there is no "schedule" or routine yet- some days they are awake all day and others they sleep all day. I'm concerned that I should be doing something to establish one!

I'm going to the dr. on Wed so I'll ask her, of course, but I love some advice or feedback from other twin moms. I'm not feeling very confident lately!

    Thanks!

We were feeding every 3-4 hours until 4 months and didn't get that first 5 hour stretch at night until late in the 5th month. Sounds like you've got some hungry babies! I think you're doing great, but I always felt reassured when I talked to the pedi so ask them too. :good:

Mine were still eating every 3-4 hrs until about 4-5 months, and didn't start stretching out their nighttime feedings until 3 months. I also think they are doing just fine.

24-36 oz is my ped's rough guideline. Anything less is too little, and anything more may be too much but it depends on whether the baby is gaining weight too fast. If they are gaining at a nice rate he doesn't worry too much about how much they are eating.

My LO's were 10.2 and 10.12 at 2 months so I think yours are doing fine :)

I think it sounds like they are doing great! They may be eating on the higher side of what's normal, but I would think that's fine. I was still feeding on demand at their age. Definitely see what the doc says, though.

Just my opinion, but I think it's nearly impossible to establish a schedule that young. My girls didn't have a real predictable routing until 6 months and a schedule came a couple months later. Don't beat yourself up about that one!

    I agree!

I don't think you are overfeeding and sounds like they are eatting normally. Mine were eating a bottle every 3 hrs up until we started doing solids 2x day at 8 months old.

I think all the girls are right! I don't think you can establish a routine that young, and I don't think you can over feed them if the PEDs not worried!! You are doing a great job! Those weights are FANTASTIC!!
