One of my babies will eat until the point of spitting up the entire bottle. Tonight we had our first date night and came home about 10pm. At 9pm he had been fed about 3oz. but when we got home he started fussing and acted like he wanted to eat. Well we kept feeding him until he had eaten 9oz(including his 9pm feeding). DH was trying to get a burp out of him and he threw up what looked like the entire 9oz. Do you cut your babies off after a certain point?

it sound to me like overeating.
My ds did it when I tried to push him to eat the last 5-10 ml og the bottle when he doesn't want to.

I always had the opposite problem of not getting my girls to take enough.

I think there is a chart you can look at for the recommended number of ounces per age. But I would put a call in to the nurse at your pedi's office just to be sure.

This is something I know about! When my DD was about a month old she would scream and scream until we fed her. She would eat and eat and then puke it up. She still does this! But what it is is she likes to suck on the bottle. It soothes her. What we do is give her a soother after she has eaten what is appropriate for her age or what her brother has eaten because he is not as much of a piggy. GL!

Sounds like overeating to me too, our boys just in the last month started eating 9oz! I did the same as pp....when they were done eating enough (sometimes they do want 1oz over what is appropriate but I wouldn't feed more than that) we would give them a paci and they would suck for maybe a minute and then be good:)

I had a problem with this with our DS when he was a few weeks old. The trouble was, he was NOT a burper, no matter what you did and for how long, youd get maybe a quick little burp, nothing major. When we went to the 6 week well baby check, I talked to the doctor about it. She said that babies will sometimes cry and want to be fed when their tummies aren't well. The sucking motion and the food going into their tummies helps it feel better for a little bit, then it just all goes to hell in a handbasket. this is especially true if the baby is breastfed, but Im sure its the same for bottle fed babes. This COULD be the problem. Once we tried giving Benny gripewater after (or ovol before) his meals, he started giving up some good sized burps, and feeding sessions were much shorter because he wasn't trying to eat to calm his tummy. just a thought?

It sounds like overeating and/or gas. Mine were taking around 4oz a feed (every 3-4 hours) at that age though they would sometimes down a 5oz bottle. I FF. He could also be going through a growth spurt in which case, I´d try offering an ounce extra in his bottle at the usual feeding time.

    GL!

We switched to a slow flow nipple and that allows my sons the ability to suck without taking too much formula. We also burp after every oz right now ( they take 2oz). If he is fussy try burping him really well to see if it helps
