Ok.. We were asking for people to get us Toy r us gift cards for christmas so that we could get a play thing for out doors.. But now my IL's are going to buy one. Now heres my question.. Should we get one that the twins grow into and DD (5) can play on (Like a big wooden or metal one).. Or should we get a plastic one like this.
They both cost about the same and one will last longer but im scared that the twins will get hurts on a bigger one..

    WWYD??

    Thanks ladies!!

ETA: The twins will be playing on it much more bc DD is in K. (Well at least until summer...)

Could you find a link to the 'bigger' one that you might be interested in as well? That one looks like it could be fun for all right now, but as you said the 5 yr old might not be that interested after a while.. I would say go for the bigger one if it has areas that the twins will be able to play on as well, and maybe you could just keep them off/away from the more dangerous parts. If you wouldnt feel comfortable letting them play on the other one at all, then I would say go for the one they can use, since they will be using it the most. ;) Hope this helped.

We have not even been looking at bigger ones. I just had a thought. the twins will be able to use it for a few years.. but im worried about DD getting bored..

The bigger ones that we were looking at before are at costco.

Well if your older daughter is in school during the day, Im sure they have a 'jungle gym' or playground thing they play on . . Do you think she is really into that 'type' of play? My oldest is going to be 5 in January (he's a boy) and I have thought about getting one of those as well, but he would only slide or swing for so long before he would be off to something else. He might use the bottom area as a fort or try to play hide n seek or something. So, I guess in my situation I would focus on the smaller children who could really get some good use out of it. . .since IMO even if it were bigger your older daughter might not enjoy it as much. I think the one in the link is nice. I know my 3 other children would like it, so go for it! :)

I personally would get the one that is safe and easy for the twins. DD can play too, but I would just want something that was not going to give me half a heart attack everytime one of the twins wanted to play on it. Easier for them, easier for you. DD will manage, plus, she is gone half the day.

I think i would do the bigger one. I know we have a creative playthings swingset in my yard. My girls have been using it forever. I think the plastic one will only last your twins for like 2 years before they get bored with it.

I'd go bigger. My kiddo's have all played on the big one since they were 18 months old. You supervise them anyway, and you might as well make it worthwhile and get one they'll have forever. My two year olds have been scaling the climbing wall on ours for a good 6 months now. But the slide is huge, and I hold their hands coming down so they don't go too fast.

I'd get the bigger one too. I'd prefer to have something that will last a long time into the future instead of just a couple of years. Like a pp said you will be supervising them anyway, and you might be surprised at how fast they get good at playing on the larger set.

I would go for the big wooden one as well. We were fortunate enough to be given one for the boys first birthday. They are over 6 now, and still play on it. Even the other day, they spent a good hour or so playing. It is well worth the expense!

I have a decent swing set that we got from walmart. It's the wooden one with the "club house" and slide. All my kids play on it. We've had it for a while now, at least a year. We also have a playhouse that is a HUGE hit with all my kids and it's a smaller one. I wish we had a much bigger one, but the one we have fits in our playroom so it's used year round. Given the amount of rain we get in the fall and spring that was a necessity for us. A sand box would be a big hit too. All of my kids like to play in the little step two crab we have. I'm amazed that my 12 year old will still play in that thing with her sisters.
We live in the middle of nowhere, so I guess we had to bring the play ground to us.

I completely agree!! We don't have a play set but almost all of our neighbors do and allow us to use them. It is amazing how quickly they got the hang of climbing and sliding and swinging. I was a nervous wreck at first, but depending on how often they play on it, they will be climbing up and sliding down on their own in no time. Make sure that you get 2 baby swings with it. I had to go out and buy an extra one because my neighbors only had one and they would fight all the time. And think twice about getting the ones with a sand box - not worth the mess!! JMO though.
