out of town without my hubby and a visit to L&D

Everything is fine, and there were no micropreemies born, at least not to me.

But the last thing you want when you're 26ish weeks pregnant and traveling without your husband is to be having contractions 2 minutes apart in the middle of the night. :(

My dad took me to the hospital because my contractions were pretty steady at 6 minutes apart, and the midwife on call told me to get to a hospital and get checked out. On top of the 6 minute apart ones, I was also having other contractions I couldn't feel, and they were coming pretty regularly at 2-3 minutes apart. We spent the night there with monitors on me and the babies. I was given a shot of terbutaline to stop the contractions because they were so frequent, even though they were NOT actually causing preterm labor. (no dilation, no effacement, and a negative ffn test)

The terbutaline caused me to experience the worst three minutes of my life as far as physical discomfort goes (imagine a hot flash, a migraine, complete loss of muscle control, and uncontrollable vomiting all at once) but it stopped the contractions cold and I managed to sleep in the hospital bed for a few hours in the wee hours of the morning. The nurse said they'd never seen anyone react to the terb that way, so I guess I was just a lucky one.

Apparently, according to the L&D nurses its very common for women who are traveling out of town to their own baby showers to end up in the ER the night after their shower with contractions. Who knew?

I'm glad everything ended up ok. We don't want to read your birth story for at least 10 more weeks!!
Terb is nasty stuff; I took it with DD1 and those 2 days are GONE.

I had those same nasty reactions to the terbutaline...I had the shot in my 21st week. That was a horrible feeling! no doubt....now get back home and get some rest! I hope you are doing better, and continue on with your pregnancy with no more excitement!!

    Keep us posted

That doesn't sound very nice but I am glad to hear that you and the babies are both fine. I won't be travelling anywhere.

i had to go to l&d friday night and they gave me terb as well, thank goodness it didn't do anything to me but make my heart race a bit faster and my legs shake. Sounds like you got the short end of the stick, just thank goodness your babies are ok :)

Yikes! I have two baby showers out of town (2.5 hours in the car each way) planned for 24 and 25 weeks  ! Hopefully it's one of those statistics that don't apply to me!

Hope things go well for you the rest of your pregancy :D
