I was overweight with my first daughter and I started this pregnancy a few pounds heavier. Now only 9 or so weeks in I feel suddenly out of shape! I get out of breath already...and heart flutters.

Sorry about that post. I sort of ended mid thought. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else felt so sluggish in the beggining?....and had heart fluttering?

Oh, its me who is having heart flutters. I normally have a murmur, but it seems to have taken on a life of its own. I heard pregnancy can make your heart beat strangely until it gets used to the new amount of blood , but I want to know how many here have actually had that happen to them.

The fluttering you feel is because of the increased blood volume in your body. If you have a murmur it becomes more noticeable during pregnancy. I have a mitral valve prolapse, and with every pregnancy have been more aware of PVC's, or fluttering. I simply got used to it. As for slugglishness.... your body is working so hard. Just wait until you hit about 30 weeks. I have wanted to nap every day since that point. Never have I been so tired. Hang in there, Lisa

Thank you soooo much. I feel much better about this now.
Likewise about hanging in there. Hope you get all the rest you need!

Yup, I experienced the heart flutters too. I never attributed it to my (slight) heart murmer, and my doc never mentioned a connection, but it's true that more blood= more heart racing etc.
Twin pregnancy I found to be much harder on me than with my singleton in general. Hope you start to feel better in a couple weeks :)

Ya I think it's pretty normal. I was very tired and out of breath in the beginning and my heart rate would just sky rocket at times. It did get better for a while but then it came back again in the third trimester
