Our Vacations

Well we just got back from two week long vacations. DH took leave for 3 weeks to rest. LOL.

The first one was with DH parents and aunts and uncles and cousins. Me and DH had been looking forward to the vacation to the Georgia lakehouse for months. We were looking for a much needed break b/c there was so many family members there. We were shocked when we got there. No one helped us with anything. I was ready to come home after that trip b/c it was more work than fun. We did have some good times though: I actually took a nap with the babies for the first time in forever, my DS Shawn got up on skis on the 2nd try, DS Shawn went tubing with me and DH, we took a nice long boat ride, we were introduced to the nintendo wii (we purchased one the day after we got home from GA). Some bad things were: no help, Natalie almost drowned in the pool (DH put the babies in their baby rafts in the pool and me and DH turned around for maybe 5-10 seconds to take our shirts off and shorts off to get in the pool and she had turned her raft over and was floating on the surface and kicking her feet------very very scary. I leaped over the side and DH jumped over the ladder to get her. She was fine though. Just a reminder to never turn your back even for 5 seconds while the babies are in the pool.), the 7 hour drive toook 9 hours there and 13 hours coming back.

After GA we had a week to rest/do jobs around our house that we had been putting off since before the babies were born.

Then we went to the mountains. We had been looking forward to this trip too. My mom, brother, his girlfriend, my nephew, and my family went. Well the week before we left for the mtns. my sister (who was not going with us b/c she could not get off from work) had a huge fall out with her X. They have a son together so my mom ended up bringing him. His name is Matt and he is about 20 months old and is a very very very overly needy baby. I was very disappointed when I found out Matt was going b/c when my mom has him, he takes all her time and energy and my kids get no attention. She was originally planning on taking my boys to walk on trails and rafting. We did have a lot more fun on this trip than the GA one. We went to Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mtn, Mystery Hill, Mining, Mining museum, orchards, in the caverns, and to look at waterfalls. It was a nice trip but we got very tired b/c mostly all we did there was sight see and not rest at all. And of coarse we were stuck with all 4 kids the whole time we were there.

Oh well, me and DH have come to the conclusion that we will not ever get a break until the babies and boys get a bit older. My older two boys went to church camp this week so it is a nice break from them but the twins are sick so I still get no break. I do miss my older two boys. They come home Thursday.

I know what you mean about not getting a break-I have come to terms with the fact that it will NEVER happen. I am glad you had fun...all your kids look so happy-that is a bonus!

Busy busy busy!!! Glad you had fun though!!! I still cant get over how grown up Natalie is and how long her hair is!!! Adorable!!

First of all - your family is BEAUTIFUL!!!
I loved how your 2 vacation pics were on opposite spectrums - the GA pics are all in shorts and swimming and in the mountains everyone's all bundled up in sweatshirts One would think they were taken months apart and not just a week - LOL
and yes - i agree with the other pp's about needing yet another vacation - hehehehe
