Our Twins are here

Our twins are finally here! They were born at 37 weeks 2 days on September 2, 2009.

Since we were scheduled for an induction that morning between 7:30 and 8 am we were up and getting packed etc to get going, I told hubby that I was going to have a quick bath while he got our youngest off to daycare and went upstairs to go do that. I was up in the bathroom and coughed and felt a pop and a gush, (sorry tmi) baby boy's water broke an hour before our induction time, talk about waiting til the last second! (Kinda neat since my water had never broken by itself before.)

So I went downstairs and told my hubby and off he went to drop our youngest of a bit early. By the time he came back the contractions had started and were somewhat painful so off we went to the hospital.

I hate the ride to the hospital, it's always so hard to get there and get in while having contractions lol. We got in and I got checked and was at about 4 cm (the day before was at 2 to 3 when doc did my exam). After getting hooked up to get readings on the babes etc we moved to a delivery room and the epidural was ordered. I dont know how much longer it was but it couldn't have been too long when another nurse told mine that she should check me again cuz it was sounding close. Sure enough I was at a 10 already with no dang epidural yet! LOL. So they wheeled me into the case room to deliver and baby boy was born at 9:07 am completely natural.

We knew that baby girl was breech so the plan was to turn her after delivery. My doctor tried but she only turned transverse and he couldn't be sure whether he was feeling a hand or foot so the decision was made to take her via c section. Yeah, my worst scenario. Off we went to do the c sec and unfortunately the spinal didn't work after quite a few tries (ouch!) so I had to go completely under and baby girl was born safely at 9:52 am. Talk about a crazy whirlwind!!

My first labor was 26 hours and my last was 14 hours so we were definitely not expecting a 3 hour labor/delivery!! Although after my exam the day before I was cramping and having menstrual cramps for about 12 hours before they went away so I think things were getting ready then too probably helping to shorten everything. Honestly I don't think I like it that short I kept feeling like such a baby and apologizing for being so belidgerant thinking I was only at 4 why am I acting this way am I really such a wimp LOL. I guess cuz I was much farther than I expected!

The healing hasn't been bad. My second day I had a bad reaction to the morphine they were giving me for pain and was terribly sick all day but if you subtract that day it wasn't too bad. I still don't know which I'd rather have if asked, a c section or a vaginal delivery. I guess to me they're probably about the same since my last vaginal was so bad in healing (thankfully this one being much quicker didn't do as much damage). But I sure do miss being able to pick up my 15 month old and am counting the days til I can do that.

The babies are doing good, they sleep pretty well during the day but then they like to party all night LOL but we are adjusting.

Their names are Jackson Garrison who weighed 6 lb 2.7 oz and Jaelyn Grace who weighed 6 lb 4.6 oz and they couldn't look more different!
