Our son fell out of his crib and cried terribly!

At 22 months, one of them finally fell out of the crib. They both started screaming before I heard the loud thud. I'm guessing my son was hanging on before falling and his sister was freaking out by the sight. As soon as I reached the door, I heard the thud and they both were crazily crying! It took about 5-10 minutes for them to calm down! Anyone else experience this?

We just ordered crib tents and won't arrive for another week. I'm so nervous now!!!!

My son did it ONCE! He freaked himself out doing it and his Sister was SO traumatized by watching it, they NEVER DID IT AGAIN!!! (evil laugh!)

Trevor cried for about a minute. Then, he tried to do it again. Some kids just don't learn... but then this was at 15 months when we were in the "look at me, I'm INVINCIBLE" stage. I had already ordered the crib tents and they'd arrived while we were out of town (he did this at naptime the day we got home) so I was able to unpack the tents and put them up immediately. I hope yours come soon in case the lesson doesn't stick. I know of another child who was frightened enough to not try it again so you might get lucky.

Oh no!! We haven't experienced this with the cribs, but if one of mine is truly upset or hurt, the other one gets upset too. It's so sad to hear them like that.

My DD climbed/fell out on Monday and she cried hysterically for 5-10 minutes. It scared her so much that I don't think she'll try that again. However, we're planning to transition them to beds tomorrow. Wish us luck!

BTW DD and DS don't share a room so he did not have to witness her fall.

One of my twins did it twice at my mom's house when she was about 8-9 months. I think my mom's cribs aren't as deep as ours because she's never done it at our house. She was fine both times, but we did drop the cribs all the way and I asked her to remove the bumpers. I would definitely order crib tents if they were getting out of our cribs, not worth them getting hurt.

DD recently climbed out the Pack & play during nap time. I never herd the thud, but I did her her SCREAMING on the floor. Unfortunatley I was more mad than sorry for her. I was freaked out that I now would have to put her into her crib for naps in the same room as DS and thus neither woudl ever sleep again.
But she was so freaked that she has not yet done it again. phew!

Ours never got the chance to even try this. One did fall out of her crib, but at like 5 months (long story) They're 20 months now and have been in big girl beds for about 3 months already. Out of necessity of their brother being born really..... Good luck, hopefully the crib tents work!

Wow! Poor babies. I haven't had to deal with the falling aspect as my Carley is a monkey and has always been successful with climbing out of her crib..... Natalie did it once, but hasn't since the first time - dont' know if she fell, but I never heard her cry. Just opened the door and they were both standing there with proud of themselves faces and said "Hi!" They both climb out of PnP's no problem wich makes napping a little challenging. Big girl beds here we come!!

Still waiting for the crib tents. I was able to order them from walmart.com for $48 each. They are the original not the crib tent II.

Anyway, thank God no issues falling out of the crib since his first fall, although, he tried lifting his leg over the crib in front of me. My heart is pounding until they both fall asleep for naps and night-time. I'm nervous it will happen again. As soon as I hear them wake up, I run in there.

Can't wait to try the tents. I'm having some resistance from family/friends about teh crib tents. They think they're a bad idea and that the twins are ready for real beds. They mentioned that the crib tents are like jail and weird overall. I don't know, I still want to try them out before switching to beds.

I wish I bought them today. I feel the same way. I had the same reaction from some family. You may have saw in my other thread that my son tried climbing out again tonight. I have to go get them tomorrow.
