Our sleep is all wonky

Our MAIN issue right now is wake time. I kid you not, it's been 5:30-5:45AM! ACK! Thankfully, we have the Tot Clock so they don't come get us til 6:30, but we can hear them in their room partying away. Part of the problem is that they're potty trained, so we're hearing them get up to pee around that time, but I do know they can go longer than that. I think they're just waking at that time & instead of relaxing & falling back to sleep, they're getting up to pee and then it's impossible to get them back to sleep.

Then there's naps. Some days they're easy, others they're non existent. Some days they're an hour, some days two, some days nothing. I'm NOT ok with them dropping a nap since they get SOOO grouchy come bedtime and usually end up in bed early (thus, possibly resulting in early wake ups). I know the end of naps is near, but I'm not sure QUITE yet.

In the past, we'd always adjust bedtime to fix our early wake ups. We'd make it earlier by 15-30mins. On non nap days, we're typically moving bedtime up a bit, too. So, bedtime for us is typically between 7:15-7:30.

But, I'm beginning to wonder if they just aren't requiring as much sleep anymore. I'm going to experiment with LATER bedtimes to see if it effects wake times. Unfortunately, days where they sleep til 6:30-7, naptimes are either non existent or WAYYY too late in the afternoon. I'm at a loss. Later bedtime, earlier wake time, no nap? Ugh.

Suggestions? Or is this another glorious phase that we could possibly outgrow? Is my sleeping 7:30-6:30 & napping 12-2 gone :(???

My kids were mostly done with naps by the time they were between 2 1/2 and 3 years old.

How long has this been going on? Do you think it has anything to do with daylight savings?

A&R have been fighting me on bedtimes since the time change. But on days that they don't have a nap, they're good with going to bed. Of course, they've only been sleeping 8-6 M-F, 8-7 SS, so it might be time to move it back to 8:30? That will be cool to actually spend some time with them, but at the same time, we won't be able to get anything accomplished around the house.

They did fine with DST. They actually adjusted quite easily. Naps started deteriorating at daycare about a month ago. They didn't start being an issue at home until the past 2 weeks or so. Bedtime is NEVER an issue. We put them to bed & if they aren't tired, they just chill in there quietly. Most nights, Conner is out within 15 mins & Aiden within a half hour. They used to wake around 6:15-6:30ish, so the 5:30-5:45 thing has only been in the past week or so. Ugh.

Last night I put them down at 8:15. Checked on them at 8:45 & Conner was out, but Aiden was ALMOST asleep (or had been asleep & I woke him coming in...regardless, I'm sure he was asleep within mins later). I heard Conner stirring at 5:30, but no one started talking til 6:20 & they didn't get up to pee until then either.

We're happy with a 6:30 wake up. In fact, it works best for us during the week. Ideally, I'd love for them to sleep in on the weekends, but no such luck :). Anyways, we'll see how nap goes today. I'm going to try to push it back a bit. They go down at noon at daycare, but when we do noon here, they never seem quite tired enough to just fall asleep (they will *usually* lay quietly, though). I think we'll eat a little later & then go down closer to 12:30-1ish.

    Wish me luck!
