So, things were goin' pretty well in the sleep department recently with the boys mostly sleeping 7pm to 6:30am. But now, this past week we keep waking up to Ben wailing and crying. When we get into his room he's standing up in the crib, gripping the railing. It's like he's half asleep but his body is telling him, "must...stand...up." He won't be soothed by the usual tricks (his blankie, paci, laying him back down etc.). I've ended up having to bring him in bed with me and nurse him to get him to calm down.

My instinct is that this is just a phase because he's recently learned to pull up and is now cruising. Any suggestions, or do we just need to wait and "this too shall pass"?

Its a phase that we have been stuck in for the last few months! If you find a solution, I'd love to hear it!

We are right together on this one, too!! All the time - he looks like a little jail bird wanting out! lol! I hope it passes soon.

Yep, my DD does it too. She has a hard time getting back down once she stands up, maybe when they're half asleep they can't remember how to get back down?
Hopefully it will pass quickly for us all.

About a month or 2 ago, Seamus did this too. He learned to pull up but could not (or did not want to) get down. He cried and I would go in and put him down and he would pop right back up. It lasted for about a week. As soon as he could get down on his own, it was not a big deal anymore.

Nicholas can stand in his crib but it never became an issue for him.

We went through it for about 1 1/2 weeks with Lauren. I feel your pain! What I ended up doing was go in there twice to put her down. The third time I let her cry for a couple of minutes then went to put her down and she would fall asleep. Just another wonderful phase!! :hug99:

Yep, I think this is one you just have to wait out. I remember it well.

I remember very well when my ds did that. I asked the ped about it too--- he said that he had to learn how to get himself back down, and that as he learned new skills like that there would usually be a phase of bad sleep again. I just had to let him CIO for a few days and he learned to lay back down. Good luck!

DD did this a couple of weeks ago to (but not during the night). I don't have any answers, but I do feel your pain.
