Our Girls are Here!

Our girls are finally here :banana: !

We checked in to the hospital at 38 weeks on October 23rd for our scheduled c-section (baby a breech.) They double checked the positions of the babies and then began prepping me for surgery. It is such a mix of emotions as you lie there knowing that after nine long months of waiting that within hours you will be holding your babies. I was excited, nervous, happy, and scared! After a short delay waiting for blood work from the lab, they finally rolled me in to the OR.

It was not comfortable sitting there still and straight for the spinal, but the dr. was great. In fact, all of the nurses, drs. and residents were wonderful. Before I knew it I was on the table with my husband by my side and they were cutting me open. No pain, only anticipation. Within minutes they were delivered. There is nothing like hearing your babies' first cries, it brings tears to my eyes just remembering it. They brought my babies to see me and they were perfect, absolutely perfect. Candace Nicole was born first and weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz. and Cassidy Elizabeth was born next weighing 6 lbs. 3 oz. Healthy, beautiful babies!

Recovery was not quite as easy. I could not stop shaking and I had an allergic reaction to the demorrahl they gave me to stop it. Also, I was sooooo thirsty but was not allowed to drink. I finally did stop shaking and my babies were brought to me shortly after delivery to nurse. During the hospital stay, there was definitely pain and discomfort, but nothing I couldn't manage. It helped to have great nurses and my husband there with me all night, every night.

We have been home since Friday, October 26th and we are all doing well. My mom was here to help out for the first week and, even though we are managing fine without her now, that extra pair of hands makes quite a difference! I am pretty much fully recovered and so relieved not to be pregnant! The babies are great breastfeeders and are happy and healthy and perfect. There are certainly some days that are easier than others, but overall I feel incredibly blessed.

Thank you to everone on here for your tips, advice and support during the pregnany. I know my pregnancy and delivery were much easier thanks to the info I gained on this board. See you in First Year!
