Our girls are here!

On Monday, June 29th I had an ultrasound, NST, and O.B. appt. We went and all was well with the girls. ALSO, both girls were now HEAD DOWN...I was so excited. The ultrasound was pretty cool because we could see the hair on Baby B's head. The tech estimated their weights at 5lb 11oz and 6lb 11oz...the biggest gap we had heard. Usually they were measuring within 3-5oz of eachother. She did tell us though that at this stage (37w3d) that measurments were not as acurate and to not be alarmed. So, with pictures in hand and a smile on my face we left the office and went home.

Later when my DS took his nap I decided to lay down as well and get some rest. At around 5:15pm he woke, I got up and scooped him out of his bed and went to sit on the bed with him for a bit. I went to get back up at around 5:30 and that is when I felt the first little gush of water. I called my DH to let him know my water had broke and that my Dad was taking me to the hospital. DH got in the car to make the 2.5 hour trip down. We left for the hospital (all three kids in tow as it was just me and Dad home at the time--my mom was on her way home from work) and arrived at about 6:20pm. I walked into the E.R. having mild contractions (which had started around 5:50 and were now coming about 3 mins apart). I told them I was in labor and they wheeled my up to triage.

Once I got into a room in triage a nurse came in and checked me...her exact words, "oh, honey you are at 10!" She opened the door and asked another staff member to help wheel me to the O.R. As I was being wheeled I called my DH to let him know I was already at 10 and they were wheeling me in, he was still on the road of course. Once in there the team of doctors and nurses and such was quite odd. It was a lot of people compared to what I am used to. FINALLY, my mom arrived and they allowed her into the room.

After a few contractions that didn't really make me feel the urge to push I got some really good ones and let them know it was time. I gave a couple good pushes and at 7:23pm out came Johnessa Dawn weighing a mere 4lb 13oz & 19in, she had the cord wrapped and was not crying right away. They did set her on my chest for a few seconds but then whisked her over to get worked on. Five minutes later at 7:28pm Briar LeeAnne came into the world at 6lb 1oz & 19in. She was making all kinds of noise and was able to stay on my chest a little longer. Once they took her over I called my husband to let him know our little girls were here. He was about 20 minutes out!!! We were super bummed that he missed it but very happy that they were both healthy.

The girls are nursing great and we were all able to leave together on Wednesday. I told my husband that it is probably a good thing we are done b/c my labors keep getting shorter and shorter!!! In the picture little Johnessa is the one with her hand in the air...she may be small but she is fiesty.

Incredible! And Congrats on your two beautiful girls! Did you think you were already that dilated? That is amazing. I wish I could have that quick of a labor. How long were your other labors? Well enjoy those precious girls of yours!!!
